Hi,I haven't posted for a while but thought this was worth a mention....although I take a low ,slow release Morphine and Pregablin I was still getting quite alot of nights where RLS had me up pacing .5 months ago I started on Propranolol for an unrelated problem and from night one I haven't had RLS not even a twinge! I tale 40mg of Propranolol a couple of hours before bed .I have waited months to make sure this is not a "flash in the pan ' .
I hope this may help someone else

It was suggested to me for my LongCovid symptoms. Racing heart when sitting. I was reluctant to try it as it's a betablocker & lots of people reported that they can worsen RLS. I used a small 25mg dose of pregabalin instead. It's great to hear positive reports about propranolol.
What good news Pippins. I just looked it up as i'd never heard of that particular drug and there are a number of sites that suggest it can be helpful for RLS.
hi - just a word of caution. I was fine on a low dose of propranolol and like yourself it did have a positive effect on the RLS. For other reasons (life in the form of mourning for my wife who passed in 2018), my gp doubled the dose. The side effects on my mood were dramatic- minor issues became massive ones in a matter of minutes. It took several months before I recognised this and came straight off them. Obviously, this won’t happen to most people- I only mention it here because all meds have a potential downside. I am really glad it’s working for you though.
I take a light dose, 10mg of Propranolol twice a day, as a migraine prophylactic. I read to come off it slowly, so I tapered. Had been on it for amidst two decades so wanted to see what would happen on the migraines.
I started noticing flutters in my heart and after several tests by a cardiologist, it was determined I had pvc's and he put me back on it and they went away. My migraine doctor couldn't increase my dose of it (to help with increased migraines) because I have bradycardia (pulse is 50-52 while sitting).
Never thought it could be a source of helping with my RLS.
Interesting. My normal resting Heart Rate is 52 or 54. Are you saying propranolol reduced your Heart Rate to 52? They might refuse it for me if it reduces my HR below 50.
I don't know how much of it is from propanolol (I'm not taking a large dose). But they know if they up the dose of propanolol it is likely to reduce it (and BP) further. So they won't go down that path.
I was on Hytrin as well for BPH and my blood pressure at times got so low that I would stand up and about pass out. One time I did and crashed back into a wall, damaging the drywall.
I had the aquablation surgery, which was fantastic, so I was able to get off the hytrin since it eliminated the problems from BPH. No more getting up in the night.
