Propranolol for high bp?

Sue and everyone: why not propranolol for high bp? Any experience?

I did try olmerstartan. It actually is part a diuretic. Made me terribly ill but didn't change my PLMD much, at least the one night I took it.

Going back to zestril that also has increased my peeing but the main problem is the cough, which can be bad at times, but it's better than the olmerstartan. Unfortunately it has not lowered my bp sufficiently in the two weeks I have been on it. Still in the 150s.

Hi I take Lisinoprel in the morning for high blood pressure without any problems. I take Propranolol a couple of hours before bed and my RLS has actually improved on it .

It should be safe and can actually help RLS, although a few people said it made their RLS worse. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Do you realize that the article you linked to cites DA's as a first line treatment?

Yeah - it used to be the first line treatment so unfortunately many of the articles are out of date.

I wrote to Dr. B re diuretics and bp med suggestions. He said that no bp meds were a problem?

I don't understand him saying that. Certainly some are OK, but not all.

I had the cough problem with perindopril (Coversyl) but no problems with losartan (Cozaar) 25mg or 50mg - although some say otherwise....

Correction on Olmesartan: it is NOT a diuretic, but I had an unusual diuretic effect.

Losartan didn't cause problems for me but didn't work for me.
