Hello all you kind , knowledgeable people out there. Some may remember that l have posted before and that l am currently on Temgesic. At the moment l take 600mcg at 5 pm and 800mcgs at 10.30 pm. It has taken about 10 months or so to titrate up to this dosage. Although Temgesic has never fully covered my severe RLS it did get my symptoms down enough for me to get enough rest and sleep to be able to cope. However l had read about Subutex and because of its much longer half life and the good reports of people who were taking it, l though it might suit me better and perhaps even rid me once and for all of the dreadful symptoms l constantly experience. In January l sent a letter to my neurologist who after about a month replied to say yes l could change medications if l waited. Well l feel l have waited long enough and at last the neurologist has agreed to phone me on Friday.

I am really anxious not to waste this opportunity and so want some help and advice in asking all the right questions and requesting the correct medication. I want to request a change from Temgesic to Subutex but wonder about the dosage. Should l ask to stay on the same dosage as the Temgesic to see how it works with a provision to increase, preferably at my own pace, rather than constantly having to ask for permission or do you think that is too much too soon.? The trouble is, it is so difficult to get hold of anyone when you want to request anything, it can literally take weeks of trying.

As l said l am really anxious not to waste the call so any words of advice or any thought at all on the subject will be gratefully received. Have to admit l am getting so tired of fighting RLS and so far never coming out on top, perhaps this is now the time. Thank you and Best Wishes to all.

Kester, who goes under the name of Shumbah on this site, will be able to help you with this question. I have been on Temgesic for 2 yrs now and only use 400mcg at night.

Do you place the tablets under your tongue to dissolve ? And leave for 10 to 15 mins to dissolve and be absorbed into the blood steam.

Also do you take any other medication that could be interfering with the Temgesic working? Could be other prescriptions or vitamins and minerals etc.

Kind regards Julie

Thank you for your prompt reply Jules1953. Yes l always dissolve the tablets under my tongue and it usually takes 7-10 mins. Ido take one tab of Temazapam just to get me off to sleep but have cut everything else out that are known to be triggers. Regards bedith
