kratom vs Gabapentin

those of you who have switched from kratom to Gabapentin, or to something else… do you find if better or worse?

I’d love to hear from some of you who used to use kratom but don’t anymore… do you feel better ? Do you feel less anxious? Has your sleep improved? Has your life improved? Is it possible to completely get away from opiates and opiate like things, like kratom?

I actually started using kratom to help me wean off of Requip. I was able to stop the Requip completely within a few months with the help of kratom, and I never had ANY side effects. It was as if I just stopped taking a multivitamin or something like that. I stayed on the kratom for about a year because I had nothing else at the time to control my RLS and I didn't want to go back to the Requip. Then I found the wonderful neurologist that I have been seeing for the last 3 years, and once I started seeing him, I stopped the kratom cold turkey with no ill effects. I never considered kratom an opioid and I never had any side effects when I took it. It just got rid of the RLS for the evening until I had to take it again the next day. So when I stopped taking the kratom, nothing really changed since the kratom never caused me to have any of those symptoms you mentioned. I was just happy to not have to swallow that nasty tasting stuff anymore...lol. I don't know if this helps you any.

The kratom is what got me through it all without any withdrawals.

I was prescribed gabapentin by my GP. It interfered while at work by felling off balance and getting sick. On my first appointment with my neurologist I was prescribed pregablin and pramipexole. I found HealthUnlocked and dropped pramipexole within six weeks of being prescribed. Pregabin has been as good of as taking 6 grams of kratom with water and a few cannabis puffs before bed. I strongly would recommend kraton while in augmentation or switching medications, as and when needed.

ok thank you, my husband used pregabalin years ago maybe in between kratom use but it severally depressed him. Maybe it was the generic kind and not a good form of it. He became almost suicidal on it. Not sure if it was the timing of things or if it can have that affect.

I got off of an opiate-like med (kratom - although it is actually a member of the coffee family) when I got on a real opioid (methadone). I was on kratom, for at least a year, because it allowed me to sleep, which I couldn't otherwise do, because of RLS. Because of an increasing tolerance, I eventually was taking 4 doses, of 8 grams each, of kratom, for a total of 32 grams per day. [WARNING; Never start off with such a large amount! A good beginner's dose would be 1 level teaspoon.]

(1 level teaspoon of kratom = approx. 2 grams). If you're averse to the chalk-like taste of kratom powder, I found that mixing it in with a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast (now called Breakfast Essentials) and 8 ounces of milk, makes a quite-palatable concoction.

Now that I have finally found a doctor willing to prescribe methadone, I no longer take kratom, and had absolutely no problem making the switchover. That was 4 years ago, and I have had no tolerance build-up with the methadone, and am still taking the 10 mg dose per day that I started with.

thank you for this info. I will share it with my husband. I think he takes approximately 2 teaspoons every 7 hours. It’s not ideal. I appreciate your sharing your situation very much!! Thank you ❤️🤗💕

High quality kratom is available online for less than 10 cents per gram. If he's taking that much per day, you should be buying by the kilogram, unless price is no object. I have no connection to the seller, but when I was using kratom, I found mitragaia. com to be a fair and reputable vendor. As you may note from my previous comment, I found kratom to not be a long-term solution for RLS, because of the tolerance factor.

we get it easily where we live. It’s grown here. But yea I agree and I think he does too now that it’s not meant for long term use. He’s exhausted… and it drains him, :(((
