Did/Does anyone have issues with sleep disruption taking Neupro?

While taking Neupro my sleep is very disrupted, only sleeping 2-4 hours at a time. And my schedule has shifted way ahead e.g) used to have 11pm bedtime, now lucky to get to sleep before 3am. It feels like I’m energized/caffeinated, somewhat like taking Modafinil, if you’ve ever taken that.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Insomnia is a common side effect of Neupro.

I get exactly the same with Opiates (Targinact) it feels like the engine is idling on a car and won't switch off. I am lucky if I get 2-3 hours of light sleep a night.

"difficulty in sleeping" is one of the many 'common' side effects of Targinact

I tried Using Neupro. Gave me terrible insomnia. In the long run I’m glad for that because it’s just another form of a dopamine agonist. I had already augmented on ropinirole and the last thing I needed was another dopamine agonist.

I took Neupro patches for years and it was like a miracle cure for me until it started to wear off.I would bear with it and see if things settle down.

Since I had RLS I have only been able to sleep for 2 hour stretches or sometimes 3 whatever I am on.

Is your sleep fragmented, as in sleeping for 2-3 hours then staying awake for the entire day? Or do you manage to fall back asleep after some time

I do go back to sleep but my sleep is always fragmented but far more so since I reached my 70s.

I don’t know that I’d call it insomnia so much as a peculiar inability to go to bed. I seem stuck on the couch, half asleep fiddling with my iPad. Ridiculous. Often end up there all night. Went to bed today at 7 am! Almost a compulsive behaviour. Pre Neu pro my sleep habits were relatively healthy.

I suffered from insomnia when I first began using Neupro. I found that what has worked best fo me is to remain on a low dose of Neupro, along with taking 600 mg of gabapentin, which makes me drowsy. I know it's not the ideal solution, but it has been working for awhile for me. I wake periodically at night, I believe due to the PLMs and hot flashes, but I can usually get back to sleep eventually.
