Hi. I have recently come off Tramadol and gone on to Red Vein Kratom to control my severe rls. The Kratom works well but I am struggling with Insomnia. Some people have suggested that at low doses Kratom is a stimulant but at higher doses a sedative. Can anyone advise me on how many grams I should be taking in the evening to induce sleep? I have been taking 4 grams an hour or so before bed and another 2grams in the middle of the night but I have regular insomnia problems most nights. Any advice anyone? Thanks!

Hi, there. Stinks that you can’t sleep on it. I thought the goal was to take as little as possible, so I can’t advise you on the dosage for sleep. I use 1-2 teaspoons every 2-3 hours overnight, along with Delta 8 gummies for sleep. I do start to get antsy when I go all day without it, but I also have an opioid that I can use to take breaks from kratom. Can you order Hirsuta? That works without addictive properties and would give you a break from the kratom, as well.
I don’t think you can get Delta 8 in the UK but you can get medical marijuana or just ask around for some indica pot or indica gummies-if possible. Or, what about trying a small piece of a 10 mg Ambien caplet?
Thank you that really helps. Last night I upped my bed time dose to 3 teaspoons and slept soundly for 7 hours! Bingo! Maybe that is my sweet spot. I hope so. I will investigate Hirsta - and see if it is available here. Thanks for that recommendation.
This is what thedodahman just wrote, in part, on another post: "My RLS got so bad that, after failing with dopamine agonists and gabapentin, I turned to kratom, which finally allowed me to get some blessed sleep. However, I had to keep increasing my dosages until I was taking 32 grams per day, because of tolerance. Recognizing that I couldn't continue upping the dose, I finally was able to get a prescription for 10 mg per day of methadone."
Combine to 6 grams.

I take 2 tbsp every night for RLS. I have worked up to it over a few years but I haven't increased in a few years either. I take a tbsp around 6pm and another around 7:30, with my target bedtime at 8:30 for work. Sometimes I'll take all together but not often. I make sure it is red vein bali, as the others don't work as well, being energy strains. It is legal in Idaho which helps! I take 20 to 30 mg of melatonin to help with insomnia, but everyone is different. I work shift work so I am used to terrible sleep.

I wrote to you on another post about this-I think it is amazing that you haven't had to increase in 3 years. You may want to ck on the melatonin-many find it makes rls worse. You might try taking 50 mg Delta 8 gummies-you can get them at any smoke shop. It works great for sleep and better than the THC pot shop gummies I tried.
