Ferritin level is lower

My blood results are now TSATs 26 and Ferritin is 95. However in August my TSATs were 29 and Ferritin 217. I am still taking iron alternate days with vitamin c. Can anyone advise how I can improve my ferritin levels please? Also why would ferritin have reduced so much? Thankyou

Perhaps when you took the test last time you didn't fast, or didn't take it in the morning or didn't stop taking iron 48 hours before the test, or had been sick within the previous 6 weeks? To improve it now, try taking 2 iron tablets at the same time every day, but not closer than 24 hours.

Thankyou Sue. I shall do that. There was no infection that I'm aware of and I stopped the iron 2 days before and fasted on the morning. I have another test booked in March . Thankyou so much

Did you check your Vitamin D levels? Low Vitamin D and low iron have been correlated. Vitamin D blocks Hepcidin. Hepcidin is produced to block iron absorption.

There are many studies that show Vitamin D helps RLS symptoms.

I found that Vitamin D helps me raise my ferritin levels.
