pregabelin side effects

I explained to my dr that sertraline had caused my restless leg to return. Previously it was under control with iron.

She put me on a low dose of pregabelin, 25mg to take at night and continue with sertraline in the morning.

The first night was ok…ish. I did sleep much better.

but the second night was horrendous. My leg was worse than ever and was restless from 7.30 till 2 in the morning. All that time I was anxious and felt like I was going mad. I could willingly have torn my limbs off.

I haven’t taken a pregabelin for the last two nights as I was scared to repeat the experience.

Has anyone had similar experience?

Will I calm down eventually ?

I thought pregabelin was great for restless leg and anxiety.

If the sertraline caused problems before, that is probably what is causing your problems now. Ask your doctor for trazodone which is safe for RLS. Pregabalin doesn't cause RLS.

I have only posted here a few times now that I feel I have a lot of my symptoms under control.

I was on Sertraline for about 2 years with intermittent self decisions to come off it due to it exacerbating my RLS but then led to depressive episodes again.

For what it’s worth I’d discuss using a much higher dose of the Pregabalin (I’m on 275mg spread out over a 24hr period) and slowly switching the Sertraline from an SSRI to something like a mood stabiliser like Limotrigine. Neither have brought my RLS back but have had a very positive response to loosing the awful RLS symptoms and getting rid of the manic depressive episodes. It’s not a quick process (took me a good 6months to do it safely as the Limotrigine requires a slow increase). As with everyone’s caveat, this has worked for me but may not for anyone else.

I wish you luck & if in the UK and can pay to go privately, Senior Psychiatrist, Dr Wayne Kampers at the The Priory, Roehampton or Harley Street is very knowledgeable at balancing multi-symptom issues with great success.

hI NJB71,my gp prescribed Sertraline a while back, the first night I took it I thought I was going crazy ,my RLS was horrendous, I was trying to wean myself off Pramipexole so I think I just halved the dose of that.i did not take any more Sertraline nor will ever again.Im taking 75mgs of Pregablin with half of my Pramipexole dose,I still have RLS and think maybe I should increase my Pregablin. Its soo hard and soul destroying when nothing I try seems to work but like all sufferers I live in hope that I will get ease, good luck.

thanks for your support.

I decided to persevere with the pregabalin last night, but took it earlier, having read elsewhere that might be an idea. I’m reluctant to stop the sertraline as it really does work for my anxiety and I feel so much better apart from the legs!!

Last night was the first for months that I had a decent sleep. I thought my legs were starting early in the evening but it wasn’t too bad. I took the pregabalin at 7.30 and went to bed at 9 as I was so exhausted. I slept immediately through till 4, which was amazing then dozed off again for another couple of hours.

Here’s hoping it will continue. Seems maybe I have to give the pregabalin time to work.

Hope you find some relief.

hI NJB71,I'm very glad for you that you slept,I suppose it's,different strokes for different folks, first time I took Pregablin I felt horrible so stopped it,now I've decided to give it another go and persevere maybe upping my dose as I get off Pramipexole, all the very best to you.

hi,

i think you are on such a low dose of pregabalin that it probably isn't helping. I take 225mg and I can honestly say that I have no restless legs problem now and that's after about 20yrs of struggling with it.
