Hi, I’m looking for some advice about whether to stop Pramipexole and how to wean off if so.
I’ve been taking it for approx 6 years 2 x 0.088 tablets and they seemed like the miracle cure for me. My RLS. Started in my early 40’s and was discovered my ferritin was extremely low due to needing a hysterectomy for heavy bleeding.
This didn’t help really and I suffered horrendous RLS till starting Pramipexole. I’m now 62.
Reading posts on here make ne question whether I should come off Pramipexole tho to date I’ve not had augmentation. I go take a multivitamin with iron in, my diet is good and I exercise several times weekly.
any advice greatly appreciated .

No need to change anything at present.Your dose is acceptable and you say you are not experiencing any augmentation.
If you start to feel the rls is not being controlled in the old way and you are getting symptoms during the day, and in your arms and body-- then do NOT increase the dose-- even if the doctor says you are on a low dose and it will be ok to go higher.
Come back to us whenever( if ever) you reach that point and someone will take you through the process.
I hope you have many more years of relief.
Just keep an eye on triggers, as has been outlined many times here.
I agree with Madlegs. Make sure you get your iron levels tested regularly and keep serum ferritin levels above 100.If and when Pramipexole stops working, that will be the time to slowly wean off and replace with alternative meds.
