I have tried gabapentin and it gave me breathing problems. I have tried weed but it makes to lethargic and unfocused the next day. Magnesium only works 60% of the time, although I still keep mag cream near my bedside.
Here what I have had success with
1.Peony root+ Licorice. Temporarily and mildly relieving.
2 Hawthorne berry. Completely and highly relieving.
3. Chaste berry. Completely and highly relieving and was comparable to gabapentin.
These supplements were not mixed togther and are not recommended to be uswd when you are using other rls drugs. Please inform yourself and talk to your doctor.
However , I am amazed at how well these supplements work. Its incredible and unknown they are to the rls community and how little they are talked about as a treatment.

No DA drugs ,just gaba for a month. The only thing with these herbs is I build tolerance to them so I take a break from them rather then increase the doasage.
Interesting - I hadn't heard of chasteberry (aka, Vitex). Concerned by the following note (source: webmd and other sites):Chasteberry increases dopamine activity in the brain. This results in a reduction of prolactin release in the body [1]. When too much prolactin is circulating in the body, it can cause disturbances in the menstrual cycle as well as a deficiency in levels of estrogen (in women) and testosterone (in men).
So, it's no wonder it works on RLS - it's a dopamine agonist.
Thanks for that info, PoorRichard! I wonder if this is true for any and all dopamine agonists? Or is it just chasteberry that reduces the prolactin that much?
Poor Richard-I just looked up on webmd the other good option 1kma mentioned: hawthorn.
It didn't seem to have the above side effects and some/one of the reviews mentioned success with RLS. Thoughts? Of course, one needs to be careful with anything ingested!
I found chasteberry mentioned in several articles with precautions about its dopaminergic properties. It seems to me that chasteberry is a particularly potent dopamine source. I wouldn't touch it. Hawthorne, on the other hand, looks more moderate. I saw dopamine property mentioned but not with any precautionary statement. Do some research...
I had some concerns about taking chaste berry and augmention due to the dopamine . But from my understanding the issue with prescription dopamine drugs is that they are 1000x more potent then herbal drugs and this is what causes the augmentation. Of course, I doubt there is any study comparing natural dopamine sources with synthetic ones. But I wonder if using chasteberry intermittently as (I believe)you would levadopa to prevent augmentation would be the safest.
There is also concentration of 40mg-1000mg. More often you see 400mg and that is what I take.
I also take it intermittently as it lessens its effectiveness if I take it every night. But thats the case with a supplements for me rather then weed.
So I rotate between chaste, hawthorne, magnesium. And for more mild symptoms peony root and licorice.
Again always talk to your doctor, do your research and NEVER MIX herbal Supplements with over the counter drugs as they do cause complications.
