Restlex?

Friend just sent me an "article" on RLS.. of course it turned into an ad. For Restlex. I told her it was an ad and that it was the wrong form of iron.

So, out of curiosity, has anyone tried it? Any thoughts on it? I am skeptical, but would love to pick some of your brains.

Thanks!

As far as I can see from a first glance, is does NOT even contain iron. Which is the only mineral that may 'cure' RLS, based on the science leading up to the brain iron deficiency BID theory of the cause of RLS.

Many people find magnesium helps their RLS symptoms, but scientific studies have not been able to substantiate that claim. Although personally I think magnesium has some merit for RLS. As to the other ingredients, they may help with some aspects in general, but none have been proven to be effective for RLS in scientific studies - as far as I am aware. And most vitamins and minerals will mainly help if you are very low or deficient in them. Even then, I think you can get those in and effective form more cheaply.

Note: magnesium interferes with the uptake of quite a few other things, including many medicines (an Madlegs is very knowledgeable about this). So if you do take this supplement or other supplements containing magnesium, make sure you take them at least 2h apart from each other or your normal medicines if you have them.

Thanks, LotteM. It does contain iron: 15 mg Ferrous Fumarate. I've never heard of this form, plus I am wondering if this is enough iron. (I take 28 mg Ferrous Bis-Glycinate.)

My concern for my friend's husband is that he takes meds, too. I will caution her about the magnesium interference. Thanks again.

I think the avdert is probably correct when it says "The truth is that most Restless Leg supplements do not live up to their claims. "

It is not a bad formula - good combination of the typical herbal sleep helpers. But if there is any effect - it's hard to tell just what is helping you. I think it is better to supplement individually and track effectiveness. It is also cheaper.

I take a product called "Rested Legs" I'm not a spokesman for this product...But it does work for me. I also take some iron supplement "Gentle Iron 28mg Iron Glycinate" every other day alternating with a magnesium supplement, 500 mg on the alternate days. This combination has solved my RLS problem.

My MD had me on Sertraline and then Gabrapentin for anxiety. Terrible side effects! I quit taking both of them. The company that makes "Rested Legs" also has a natural supplement called "All Day Calm" supposedly for anxiety. I think I'll give it a try. Would much rather take natural supplement than RX meds with nasty side effects. If it works - I'll let you know.

Bought this at Amazon. I take one pill 30 minutes before bedtime. Works well for me. No side effects in the thirty days I've been taking it. I'm ordering more today.
