Can someone please advise on what anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medicines do not cause a worsening of RLS symptoms?

Thanks Madlegs1, I’ve had a look on the site but it only seems to name anti-depressants I should avoid. Do you have list of medicines that are generally ok to take if you suffer from RLS?

This post saved me! I’m now off Zoloft! Your RLS will greatly improve once you re off this stuff. I switched to Welbutrin with no complications. Good luck!

Thanks FluteE, very useful

I suffer from intransigent RLS that I have only had good treatment for it with methadone and supplemental low-dose oxycodone when I have breakthrough RLS..

In the 1990's , I had a severe depressive episode and I used the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) named fluoxetine (USA trade name is Prozac [or the very feminine named pink and purple colored capsule called Sarafem used for PMS so the USA drug companies can fool the public into thinking they are two different products and charge more (sarcasm intended)]. This is before my RLS went through the roof. It worked very well and I felt like a normal person for the first time ever. Went off it for a few years in the 2000's. When I tried to use it again, it bothered my RLS terribly. I tried all the different SSRI's and they all had side effects (all sexual from anorgasmia to a "complete power failure").

Finally we tried bupropion XL (Wellbutrin XL is the USA trade name) and it had no exaceration of my RLS. This did keep my depression at bay. There was a difference; the only way I can describe it is like this. Both worked on my depression, but fluoxetine gave me a "warm fuzzy" feeling while treating it while bupropion XL, while also treating my depression, gave me what I can only describe as a "cold, prickly" feeling.

Just my humble opinion;
