RLS and vaccination for Covid 19

Hello, I wonder if anyone have information or experience about vaccination for Covid 19. I have been offered vaccination and my consern is if it can affect rls negatively. I would be grateful for answers.

I guess this is something that's going to be recurring over the next few months.

I myself, and several other members have reported that they have had the vaccine without any ill effect.

Thank you so much for your answer Manerva. Just to let you know, I'm in no way against vaccination in general. Speaking of wich, have you or anyone had experience in having or heard anything about getting Covid and having rls?

I am happy to say have had the vaccine without any effect on my RLS...I have the flu vaccine every year and that too has no effect on my RLS...

No effect on my RLS either ...... still as bad as ever. The thought of getting severe Covid is even worse than having very severe RLS. Covid is a nasty & dangerous disease

I had quite bad reactions to the AZ jab & for 2 nights my RLS went away. Now the vaccine side effects have gone & RLS has returned.

I'm a pharmacist working in a vaccine centre and have not heard of this being an issue Ive had both doses and they didn't affect my RLS

I've just put a post about my RLS going nuttier than it already was i have it 24/7 before the vac think is there was 48/10 id be there too sleeping less than 6 hours a week before jab was sleeping about 8 to 6hrs a week whole body won't calm down due second jab on the 3rd Aug hmm... i've not read anyone else had a problem yet was kinda hoping i would to see what they are doing to calm it ... of course im pleae no one else isn't suffering

I had the Moderna Vaccine. The first dose ....no problem. After the 2nd dose up during the night with chills, low fever, and body ache. Completely knocked me out for one day.. i have spoke to other people including my Granddaughter who is a Nurse with similar experience.It had no effect on my RLS

Wow, really? You may turn it down if it’s not Pfizer? I sort of felt like receiving any of the vaccines was lucky and would have taken whichever they offered. If you have room to be picky about it though, maybe hold out for the new Novavax vaccine! It sounds like it may be the best so far!

I am a vaccinator in the UK, I give both Astrazeneca and Pfizer, depending upon vaccine supply. Both are well tested and effective, there's nothing to choose (unless you have had an anaphylactic reaction, when AZ would be recommended)

I had Pfizer as that was what was being given at the time, I would have been happy to have either. The best vaccine is the first one that you can have!!

Hi Gabbi, I had the Oxford/Astra Zeneca jab yesterday and was feeling rough so went to bed early last night. However I had the best nights’ sleep for months if not years, no waking, no twitching etc. !! Looking at the responses that’s not typical although boxer215 was similar. However it certainly didn’t make it worse.

I had the Astrazeneca vaccine 5 weeks ago, had mild side effects the next day, i slept on and off all day with no sign of RLS til 11-00 that night , didnt matter to me which one i got as long as i got vaccinated.

Also it does not refer to "efficacy" which is what you questioned.

I think you are just trying to be alarmist, the original post that you have replied to simply asked if receiving the vaccine had made any difference to anyone's RLS, the answer seemed to be a resounding "no"

This addresses efficacy, all of these rates are good. No vaccine gives 100% protection.

He’s a veterinarian.

He seems to mainly hang out on Linkedin ( more usual in business rather than science)

He seems to be a believer in herd immunity (without vaccination)

Viruses will always mutate with or without vaccines , we learn that in school

There are bigger brains than his working on the problem and my previous reply addresses transmission, vaccines are effective in reducing transmission

I had astrazennica vaccine and no effect on my RLS for either better or worse. Feeling very lucky that we have the NHS vaccination programme in the UK and that I was called in for my jab earlier than I expected.

I had my second shot a week ago and my RLS has disappeared completely! I suppose it may come back again though. Hope not as it has been a great relief.

Hi pollyesther - What vaccine did you have? I am due to book mine and am trying to get one that mine reduce or alleviate symptoms completely.
