Music and RLS

I have found that on occasion listening to music helps with my RLS. I need to listen to something that moves me. Maybe something nostalgic or perhaps unexpected. I understand this may not be conducive to sleep for some, but at the very least it might alleviate some of the torture of RLS.

Yes, it’s the same for me. Listening on headphones seems to quell the pain and convulsions in my legs. Audio books help too.

I listen to music every night in bed, it helps me drop off. Usually its the sloppy lovey type songs that i listen to , using earphones and as loud as i can, you concentrate on the music the words it distracts from the RLS and lets me drop off. When i wake again with symptoms i do it all over again. Its a trick i got from the website of The RLS Rebel years ago.

I also use music to help me fall asleep. I have a several playlists I use on YouTube and I place my phone on the pillow near my ear. I seldom make it through an entire playlist before I am sound asleep. If I do not listen to music, I lie awake and notice my any symptoms I have in my legs or body. My playlists are usually movie or TV theme songs from old stuff, such as To Sir With Love and Dionne Warwick singing Alfie.

I would never laugh at Engelbert Humperdink.....I still love Release Me. I live in Arizona and he has a concert scheduled here on January 9, 2021 at a very upscale casino, and I hope I can go see him, though everything is up in the air as far as live concerts go. Hopefully by January we will be allowed to attend social gatherings again. I also like Tom Jones, and I love the Righteous Brothers (with the original Bill Medley and Bucky Heard filling in for the deceased Bobby Hatfield).

I have watched many of Engelbert's concerts on youtube, it helps to wile the hrs away when RLS is keeping me awake. He has a virtual one done in his house as he was getting frustrated on not being able to go on tour to sing. I am a Tom Jones fan too. :)
