I usually take kratom for RLS but forgot to get some today. My left leg and arm are driving me crazy. I took 1mg Xanax. How much will work for RLS? Thanks

Xanax is not a medicine that is often used for RLS, so no specific dose ranges have been developed for RLS. Also, we are all different, and the 'average' dose may not work for you or may be too much. Additionally, as you may suffer some (mild) withdrawal from missing out in the kratom, non-standard doses and meds may be required to quell your symptoms. I can only say that make sure you try/ use all the other known and non-pharmalogical approaches to deal with the RLS. There are long lists, amongst others by Graham, but hot baths, compression, magnesium applied topically ('oil' on the legs or Epsom salt in the bath), yoga stretches, strong distraction, and if course walking the floors are the most common ones that come to mind. I am afraid you have to stick it out for today and tonight. But the hours will pass. Hang on.

I can sympathise, I used to be in a similar situation when I was taking a dopamine agonist. If I forgot a dose then I had terrible withdrawal symptoms within hours. Once they'd started, taking the DA didn't stop the twitching.

I hope you simply forgot to take the Kratom and haven't run out.

I got around my issue by setting an alarm on my phone and making sure I always had it with me. I also set reminders in my calendar to re-order more, before I ran out. When travelling I always took a supply of more than I should need and carried it on my person.

It's terrible that RLS can make you so dependent on something that you have to do these things to avoid the misery of missing a dose.

Unfortunately, as Lotte says, benzodiazepines aren't really much help with RLS symptoms, best to just to stick to the dose you've been prescribed.

I'm not prescribed any medication for RLS. I was taking mirapex but when i found out it can cause dementia i quit taking it. I only need the kratom occasionally when my RLS acts up. I was just out last night. I have the Xanax, 0.5mg, for anxiety.

For medication read Kratom.

Apologies I misread your post. I see you wrote that you forgot to get some, not that you forgot to take it.

Apologies again if I misunderstood why you're taking Xanax. As you asked what dose will work for RLS I presumed you were asking about taking it for that, not anxiety. My answers the same. Its not much good for RLS, so keep to the prescribed dose for your anxiety.

Thank you. No worries. I'm sure my post last night was confusing because i was under extreme duress. Sometimes the Xanax helps me with RLS. I happened to notice the correlation btw taking Xanax for anxiety, and not having rls symptoms when i did that. I really need to see my sleep Dr again for some kind of maintenance medication, as i won't take narcotics.

Good you have a sleep doctor and I hope they can sort something out for you. I'm not clear what you want, something for sleep, something for anxiety or something for RLS.

You may find for yourself that, apparently, Xanax relieves your RLS symptoms. However, benzodiazepines are usually only prescribed to help RLS sufferers with sleep, not with symptoms.

You did ask what would be a dose of Xanax that works for RLS, so really the answer is that it is generally recognised that no dose of Xanax will "work" for RLS.

You're wise to have stopped pramipexole, (Mirapex), not because of it causing dementia, but because it causes augmentation.

Narcotics are not the only alternative nor even the first alternatives to dopamine agonists if you want a RLS medicine.

Perhaps you could also explore the non-pharmacological remedies for RLS as well. That is, if you've not done so before. You'll find information about these on tbis forum.

The Xanax it’s self did not help the RLS it just helped me sleep through it. On and off. It was better than nothing but I definitely don’t like doing it often.

I’m now on Suboxone.

It’s a medication that in Canada is used for pain, RLS, and narcotic addiction.

In The USA it’s only used for drug addicts.

However; my doctor thought it would help me with my auto immune diseases and pain levels and RLS and anxiety.

And he was right.

I’m not a drug addict.

I’ve never take drugs unless prescribed.

But we got around the system.

He stuck me on hydrodcodone 7.5s for 2 months and then was able to switch me to Suboxone. It was the best choice I’ve ever made. I was super scared. But it give you absolutely no feeling or high

You feel 100 percent normal! I’ve never felt normal before.

I have no RLS. (Usually every night I did)

No migraines. (Usually monthly to where I was vomiting hourly )

No severe body aches and pains (usually every morning and night I did )

And my anxiety is at an extreme low (usually I had panic attacks and anxiety attacks on the daily)

I have lupus, Sjögrens, ptsd, asthma, and chronic migraine and fibromyalgia.

You couldn’t tell now.

You can become addicted to Suboxone just like any other drug. So it’s not for everyone.

I’m still afraid of that but I take as needed only.

I used to take gabapenten and I stopped cold turkey one day and had severe withdrawals. So honestly you can withdraw from any medication that you take every day. Your Brain won’t do Well without something it’s used to taking every day.

Idk that this helps anyone but if it’s something you want to look into. Maybe a doctor can help like mine did.

The pros to this medicine out weighs the cons for me.

As it fixes every problem I have.

Hi, I was recently prescribed 2mg Buprenorphine, which I cut into eighths, for rebound RLS and had a terrible time with side effects. I suffered nausea, headache, brain fog and tremors, just to name a few, day and night. After five days I stopped taking it. My doctor said my reaction was highly unusual, so I was wondering what your experience with Suboxone has been like. Did you have trouble adjusting to it? Were there side effects? Any information you could provide would be helpful, as I’m interested in trying Belbuca in the future. Thank you and congratulations on finding something that works for your RLS!
