Hi I had an appointment made at Sheffield hospital for the 2nd April it has been booked a long time ago. The hospital said it specialist in rls and sleep studies. I researched it on the net but along came the corona virus and now I can't visit in person instead I'm having a telephone consultation. Apart from telling them my rls history and my present medication what else would you recommend telling him or her?

Hi how are your symptoms these days ?. I remember reading that you are not taking any medications for your RLS. Kudos to you!!.
Hi heather less I’m not taking any meds at all for rls at the moment apart from paracetamol. My rls is not as severe as it was when I was suffering from augmentation but starts early in the day and the only way I can get some relief is to walk about sleep is also very erratic I would like to try some other relief methods but not sure what to try over the years I have pursued many alternative but to avail
Hi, I hope it goes well.
Ad well as your current medication and doses, you might add ant medicines you've taken in the past for RLS, names, doses and effects.
You might like to write it all down in bullet points, as a checklist, so you don't forget anything you want to say.
Thanks for the reply Manerva
Ask them abour your ieon levels . Also Im really pushinf this out there if anyone is using atificial sweetners it will trigger rls fast . If you do ir takes atleast a week to get it completely out of your system. Hope it's helpful .
Would it be good to keep a log of symptoms, duration etc from now until yr appt? I.m a retired doctor and know these things can be very helpful.
Hi, I attended a Neurologist appointment for my RLS. I was given an electrical test in both my legs to confirm it was RLS and not some underlying illness. A was asked a number of questions regarding severity and medication taken. Lifestyle etc. The neurologist confirmed my RLS and recommend to my doctors a reduction in ropinirole and an increase in pregabalin.
So far I'm literally free of RLS most evenings and I am sleeping well.
I would just be totally honest with them and explain exactly how your Restless Legs are, how they impact on your every day life, how they make you think, how they make you feel etc. As I’ve mentioned before I spent 5 years attending a sleep disorder clinic and about a year with a Neurologist, but nothing made any difference!

I agree with Annpaw's reply. I did the same when I recently went to the Papworth Sleep Clinic, They did try to put me on a rotigodine patch, but I refused. They put me on gabapentin instead. However, I will be tapering down again from ropinirole once the gabapentin kicks in. Good luck with your consultation. I would just mention, if you can, try to dissuade the clinic from prescribing you a dopamine agonist.
I had appointment in kings college hospital again telephone appointment and again in September was alright I think we know more on this group than them .She suggested same medication gabapenton or pregablin .I am on pregablin 75 mG is not working still bad nights . I might call them again
