I am in a war with pramipexole it really is a battle and I feel I'm being tortured.

I was on .78mg per day but now I have knocked off the .26mg pramipexole I'm down to .52mg extended release formula per day but my neurologist put me on Gabapentin 100mg capsules taken three times per day morning, afternoon and night. It's early days yet but the aim is to stop the Pramipexole altogether but it's hard going. I go to bed 10-10.30pm feeling tired but my legs( mainly the left leg fir some reason) twitches and jerks and won't let me sleep! At 1am and no sign of sleep despite wandering around the house for hours I give it and take Zopiclone 3.5 mg and feel like a zombie when morning comes.

I'm just praying that when I eventually or hopefully get rid of my dependence on pramipexole I can get my life back.

Hi! I feel for you. Whenever a dosage of pramipex is dropped, it feels like our body starts shaking. It is that powerful a drug. For you and considering that you're not able to find some relaxing nights, I really think you should talk to a doctor about Tramadol or any other opiod atleast for this period where you're dropping your dosage. I am so sorry that you're struggling like this. In all likelihood, I do believe that your symptoms will be much better in the future once you're off this drug.

300mg Gabapentin is not enough, you will need to increase the dose to at least 900mg. 300mg is only the starting dose

The other thing is, for epilepsy or nerve pain the dose is 3 times day, but for RLS you can take the whole daily dose in a single evening dose. You need it at night, not during the day.

With the increased dose and taking it altogether at night, you will find it more effective and hence easier to reduce the Pramipexole.

I agree with Heatherlss on the opiate taking, Tramadol can help with the withdrawals. and you have a while to go yet on reducing your dose slowly. I also agree with Manerva your Gabapentin dose is starting dose so its not doing anything to help. and take it all at night, but ask your doctor about increasing the Gabapentin and for you to take Tramadol, incase your doctor doesnt know about how bad withdrawals can be then explain how you are wandering around the house all night .

I am so sorry you are having to go through this torture. I know how bad it is and can only say it will get better— a lot better.

Listen to the advice others more informed than I can give you here and be persistent with your GP till you get the help you need to get some sleep.

I have come out the other side of it and now I am completely off the DAs , and although I am not yet sleeping through the night , it is all so much better .The RLS symptoms are much less intense for me and are present for less time.

I am on Gabapentin 900 mgs and Targin 25 mg at bedtime. I know this needs to be a higher dose but I had to leave to go on an extended holiday so Ihave to get on with this dose as best I can.

Good luck and my thoughts are with you. You can do this , be strong and just one night at a time.
