A long detailed and intelligent article on medical cannabis appeared in The Observer today, including a list of conditions that could be helped by its use. RLS was not on that list. Tragic.

Why no mention of RLS
RLS is not familiar in a bigger way than some other conditions are. They probably wouldnt think that RLS would benefit from using medical cannabis., because they are ignorant of our condition. Who knows why. I assume the article was by a doctor. RLS is always down the list, or never even on any list.
True, alas. The article was written by a journalist, and highly researched. A double page spread. Worth looking up on the net, along with a previous piece of his on a big cannabis research project currently running in the U.K. I get major help from weed, Elisse, so am interested. I’m thinking of writing him a nice letter telling him about RLS and how helpful weed is in relieving the vile symptoms we suffer. Can’t harm. And I believe the press is a potential big ally in our fight.
Well sounds like this journalist is some one who has a big interest in cannabis and i think worth you getting in touch with him and put forward the case for using it for RLS. Interesting that there is research going on in the UK on using cannabis, as that seems to be the sticking point of any of us here in the UK getting to try it, even tho its been made legal by our Government on prescription no one can get a doctor to prescribe it the reason doctors are saying is because no research has been done on its benefits or what the long term use would be. They have restricted the use to only a few conditions, but even those people cant get it prescribed for them. Makes no sense at all.
It's probably not the "facts" about Cannabis itself that are the sticking point, it may be the long standing cultural stigma attached to it.
Keeping it criminalised is perhaps perpetuating the reasons for keeping it criminalised.
The Canadian model for decriminalising it seems a good model, we'll have to see the results of it.
Another factor may be that there is currently no acceptable evidence that cannabis is effective for RLS, only "anecdotal" evidence.
This doesn't mean it doesn't work. It may mean that the research simply hasn't been done.
Since such research is considerably expensive, unless there's strong pressure for carrying it out, companies only interested in profits will be reluctant to do it. This again might stem from a lack of interest.
Neurology is low down the list of medical priorities and RLS is low down the list of neurology priorities.
Neither do you see the media reporting cased of people being denied life saving RLS treatments!
I believe I tried every method from medical to old wives'tales to end my nightmare of years of RLS to no avail. Then my cousin gave me a small bottle of CBD oil with .3% THC to try. It completely stopped my RLS!
I am still in shock!
I need about 1ounce a week, so it is expensive, but so worth it!👍
Yes CBD works really well for me - it helps me sleep and seems to bring calm to my legs. I have some CBD with THCa 1:1 (THCa is raw so non psychoactive. ) To get psychoactive effects THCa has to be decarboxylated (heated) to become THC. The THCa seems to make the cannabis work even better. It is important for people to take the strength they needs - too little and it is not effective. I tried taking a few extra drops per night until I reached to dose which worked for me. My doctor has prescribed medical cannabis for RLS and I do think there is more awareness now of its beneficial effects for the condition.
Hi, this is very interesting. I’m very naive about CBD oil, how do you take it? I may give this a try, I don’t care how expensive it is, I just want relief. Thanks.
