I don't use the patch but from my understanding it is supposed to be worn 24 hrs a day, and changed every day.

But, there are folks on here who will know for certain.

What do the instructions on the prescription say?

I would imagine if you take it off for several hours, your rls symptoms could come back.

I would recommend using it however the dr prescribed it to you.

As Dogdoo has said it should be worn 24 hours and only changed once a day. Mine is changed when I go to bed. If you take it off or, as happened to me, it comes off, then RLS will come back. Carefully read and follow the instructions.

I don't use the patch either, but I do know, as Dogdoo says a 24 hour patch is meant to be left on 24 hours.

If you remove it for hours during the day then the level of the drug in your blood will fall. If you put another patch on, it can take several hours to get the level back up. Patches, by design act more slowly.

If instead of using the patch you were taking, say 2, tablets, taking the patch off for 12 hours is equivalent to only taking one tablet. In addition it's like cutting the tablet into several pieces and only taking one piece an hour. By the time you take the third piece, it's likely the first piece would have already disappeared.

Simply put, if you take off the patch for several hours, for all the good it might do you, you may as well leave it off altogether.

I understand that for some people the patch causes skin irritation. If that's the case, then there are, I believe, slow release oral dopamine agonists that you could switch to. e.g. extended release Pramipexole.

Yeah as said 24 hour patch = 24 hours. The problem is that it doesn't always stretch the 24 hours so take note of when you apply so as to obtain the maximum benefit you may need to alter the time.

I used to use it and put it on around 5 pm or so and that seemed to give it the maximum time to start working for me, but we all differ so as said experiment!

Hello, have been on patch for 5 months take it a minimum of 4 hours before bed it generally works for 18 hours or more effectively I am up to 4 Mg. Some people alow an overlap of 4 hoyrs to ensure you have 24 hour coverage, I keep to this regiment, works well
