Has anyone had problems sleeping with this medication, did your system get used to it and sleep betters after taking the medication after 6 months or so?

Neuro patch
Hi Elijah, I've never used a Neupro patch, but it is a dopamine agonist and I've taking a dopamine agonist for years and I'm afraid it's one of the consequences.
If your insomnia is a consequence of the patch , and if hasn't improved after 6 months, then it probably won't.
The insomnia could be due to something else, but if it started when you started the patch, then it seems it probably isn't.
Thanks, very educational
Insomnia can be part and parcel of RLS because of an excess of glutamate in the brain, and too little adenosine. Our lovely brain chemistry!
Dopamine agonists, for many of us, make it all so much worse.
Insomnia used to be named on the package insert as a major neurological side effect, but this seems not to be true any more. Pharmaceutical skulduggery, I imagine.
If it gets to the stage where your quality of life is severely harmed, you must move to another drug.
Please speak to your doctor - you cannot do without sleep, it damages the brain.
Thanks very educational
As Parminter says, whereas dopamine agonists relieve RLS symptoms by their dopaminergic action, they do not reduce high glutamate levels associated with RLS and insomnia and furthermore, they also cause restlessness.
If you're now clear that it is the Neupro that's causing the insomnia then it would best to switch to an alternative. Seek information about this, don't just suddenly stop using the Neupro, you must nevet go cold turkey on a Dopamine agonist.
