Last time I posted there were overwhelming responses so please don't do that again ☺.

It's been 2 months since I started using the tincture made from full-spectrum marijuana.

I have had 2 episodes of RLS during that time where I had to resort to a brownie to get relief.

Prior to March 15, I woke up with RLS at least 3 days a week. The episodes started in the afternoon the other days and continued all day/night. It was unrelenting. My brother also suffers but not so much. I have had 3 spine surgeries but I had RLS before that and I think the surgeries exacerbated the RLS.

I quickly augmented on carbidopa/levodopa but had some success using tramadol and inhaling 😀 but only if I was able to take tramadol and smoke right at the onset. Ten minutes into the episode and it was too late for those medications to have an effect. (Yes, cannabis is a medication - a very good one) it really affected my social life and I essentially became a hermit.

I worked in healthcare my entire life and have little to no faith in the pharmaceutical industry. We are treated as if we have an "orphan" disease.

The tincture (33% THC) has been nothing short of a miracle. If you live in Mexico (where it is legal) or planning a trip there, I can help you get some to try. I don't get high from it, but my husband does. It's an individual thing.

Whippetmama,

I’m very interested in this ongoing discussion and I hope no one makes you think you’re doing something wrong. More and more doctors are even opening up to this. My own doctor, with no questions or showed interest from me, suggested I look into medical marijuana. I’m more interested in edibles or tinctures then smoking something mostly I don’t want to expose my husband in case he were to get drug tested for work or our animals and I have allergies that cause me to cough (lovely post nasal drip) as it. I don’t know why but it’s just not the way I want to take it in. I know it works faster....... Our state has legalized marijuana but you can’t buy anywhere yet because they don’t have any rules and regulations set up yet. Stupid. They knew it was coming. Wish I was making a trip to Mexico but I’m nowhere near even. Guess I’ll have to wait unless people are willing to share information about THC versus CBD amounts. I know they are supposed to work synergistically. Is it a matter of experimentation? Each person different? I have so many questions so if people are willing to come forward and share or tell me where to look I’d be so appreciative. I have terrible problems with insomnia because I can’t get my mind to shut down, which I think THC/CBD could help too.

Thanks for the listen,

Sus

No, no one has even implied that I am doing something wrong. We're all in this boat together. Yes, you do need both CBD & THC but I don't know what the ratio is. I know it is more than the tincture made from hemp which is pretty much useless for, at least, severe RLS like mine. Yes, it most definitely help with insomnia. I haven't slept this well in years. Vaping is the fast way to get it into your system followed by sub-lingual. Which state are you in? If you can get your hands on marijuana, there are many YouTube videos on how to make the butter so you can make your own edibles. AFAIK, using an instant Pot is the way to go.

Sorry, misunderstood with the “overwhelming posts” that maybe people were giving you a hard time as can happen when people don’t understand things but feel they have to comment anyway. I’ve been the recipient so just feel protective I guess. I live in Michigan so right now (until they get things settled) I can obtain only with a medical marijuana card but am looking into that as my neurologist had basically promised to prescribe medication that had worked for 13 years but now since talking with my primary care physician thinks I’m “too focused on it” even though in our first meeting I did not bring it up but she did and even put it as part of our plan. I’m more than a little po’d that she’s now backtracking so I’m looking for my own treatment. Do you think it is worthwhile getting approved for a medical marijuana card rather than wait for the legal shops to be set up supposedly in 2020? Thank you for any guidance. Newbie sort of on this issue.

Sure. Why not go ahead and get the card. You'll just be ahead of the game. No, by "overwhelming responses" was that over 30 people, I think, had questions and I spent an inordinate amount of time answering them. Just being pissy, I guess, on my part. Instead of waiting until 2030 I would go the illegal route, but that's me. Your legislators are being asses. No surprise, since your governor is one.

Hi Whippetmama - for how many hours does the tincture cover you?

When I first started taking it, 4-6 hours. Now, most days I just take it before I go to bed.

I live in NM and headed to a dispensary in Denver in June to stock up and begin experimenting.

CBD so far in my littler experimentations has not done much for me so I like your idea of combining the two. I have sensitive lungs so I’ll have to combine edibles and oils.

Thanks for getting me all fired up about this!

Although a few people have said CBD works for them, studies show that the THC is the magic ingredient. If you aren't used to THC, start low and slowly ramp up to where it is effective.

Hello Whippetmania,

I currently live in Mexico & would very much appreciate if you could help me get some to try. I use kratom for my severe rls but it is not always effective, plus I need something to use when I take breaks from it. I prefer to use natural substances as I have had terrible results with prescription medications.

Thank you.
