Need blood tests.

Not sure what I need for RLS... I know one test is the Ferritin but can't remember what the other one is.. could someone kindly advise. Thank you.

Definitely ferritin, for us this needs to be 100+ (much lower than this would be considered “normal” for the general population) Can’t think of any other standard tests re RLS

I was told ferritin level must be 85 or more and there are no other “tests” for RLS

Secondary, rather than primary RLS is sometimes caused by other conditions, e.g. anaemia or kidney failure. So if a doctor suspected it was secondary RLS or something that was not RLS but mimicked it, then there might be other blood tests.

You should have serum iron, ferritin, transferrin saturation and total iron-binding capacity.

The ferritin level can be falsely raised if there is an inflammatory condition present, and if you test for ferritin alone you may not get the correct answer.

If it is your first round of tests, perhaps you should have a complete 'iron panel'.
