Cooling my legs

My legs and feet often get too warm in bed and this brings on the RLS symptoms. In the summer I bought a gel cooling sheet for my dog which he didn’t seem to like.

Last week I put the sheet under my bottom sheet at the foot of my bed and I find this is really calming for my legs.

Just thought this idea might help others

Good idea, glad some thing's working for you. I've often had to sit with my feet in a basin of cold water, (not nice in the depths of winter in Ireland), in the middle of night to get relief.

Just had a mental picture of you sitting shivering in the middle of a freezing Irish night with your feet in a bowl of water and it made me laugh and cheered me up no end!,

Thanks Raffs 😂

You want to see my pale Irish ass running around the back garden in the snow with only my underwear on, its not a pretty sight or so my wife says!!

Bet it’s not but does it help the RLS?

It is actually very effective. Mind you there are nights I am so stupid with fatigue and pain that I would forget wee tips like that, I'd really need to keep a list in my wallet.

I've found being too hot, particularly my legs, can be a trigger. Also wearing clingy pyjama bottoms can irritate, which could be a combination of heat and compression.

Glad you've found something that helps you.

My RLS doesnt like the heat, especially at night, i have no heating on at all, even in the winter. I have a fan blowing all night on my legs and feet and usually feet outside of the covers. I bought a couple of cooling gel sheet, well not as big as sheet size, for me because we had such a hot summer in the UK this year, i found having one first under my legs nice and cool stopped the RLS, for a while, once the cooling gel warms up its doesnt work so swap to the other one i have, i bought 2 for that reason. I also sometimes use a product called Deep Freeze it comes in a gel or a spray, that also helps at times. All these tricks as i call them are great to use when meds are not co-operating for me.

I used think ice packs that are sold for injury. I put them in a pillow case and that helps.
