Coming off Mirapex

Hi folks, I was on Mirapex since 1998 and just came off about 10 days ago. I thought I was losing my mind, no sleep, feeling right out of it. My Doc put me on quinine sulphate 200 msg and that didn’t seem to be working so last night I took two doses of CBD, 150 mgs each, and I actually slept off and on for about 5 hours. I’m going to keep on with it so see how if it helps. I’ll keep you posted.

Well done in getting off the Mirapex. Some achievement.

Good luck with the CBD . What sort is it, strength etc? All info very welcome.

Cheers.

BTW- quinine is not recommended for rls, does not work, and is actually dangerous for dicky hearts. Tell your dr.🤔

I had the same reaction and had become a compulsive gambler as well. Does not happen to everyone ( 1of5 ). Tramadol helped me with the withdrawal and Gamblers anon. saved me from addiction. I am now on iron supplementation; found a MD through the RLS Foundation. Some persons with RLS have an iron deficiency even though blood values are normal; needs to be monitored by someone who knows current therapy. Do not give up; I had to do my own research before I found Dr. Risk in Marlboro. He has my permission to use his name. Brica

Could you give more information on how you are supplementing with iron and what your ferritin level was before and after treatment?

Walrus, I began taking Slow Fe 45 mgm. 4xday. At that time my iron was 57(av. Is 35-175) - may, 1918. I gradually decreased ( under Dr. Risk’s supervision) to 2xday. My serum iron is now 139, Ferritin is 148 (av. Is 20.0-288.0). I am also taking Klonopin 2 mgm, at night ( a few hrs. between 1-2 mgm. dose. I have gone from 24hrs/day with RLS to almost none and they are mild. Apparently if a person had RLS at an early age, they are more prone to have a problem with iron transportation to other parts of the body (Ferritin). This applies to me; important to be treated by an MD who knows about RLS and current research findings. Johns Hopkins and Mass. General are leaders in this research in the U.S.

I hope this is helpful, Brica

I am also coming off of this. I stopped cold turkey. I am going insane. I have been on it since 2007. Stopped working, gambling issues, etc. I am taking L-tyrosine and GABA to try and help with the DAWS. Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal Syndrome. i wake up with full blown anxiety every morning. Knot in my stomach, chest racing and hot. I cant function doing day to day things. It is hell. I wish everyone well that can get off of these meds.
