Amitriptyline

My doctor has put me on amitriptyline the last 2 weeks to get me off paraxomil, i cant stop nodding off in the day, then the night comes and im up alnight again with anxiety, terrible rls i cant cope with this anymore, im only on 20mg of this for the nerve treatment and help me sleep, but worse now at night. Does anyone have any experience with this drug?

Unfortunately most sufferers with RLS cannot tolerate amitriptyline becase it makes their symptoms much worse. It is listed as a medication to avoid in this link rls-uk.org/treatment/ There are of course exceptions to every rule but it would appear this drug is not suiting you at all.

All i can say Kaarina is i have found peace from RLS and bodyRS also and its all thanks to Ampitripyline. It may well be it needs to be taken at a higher dose i take 50mg at night. It doesn't make me drowsy at all next day but some cant cope with it without it having the effect of drowsiness. I tend to be able to cope with sleep meds that would knock my husband flat out he's said it amazes him that it doesn't wipe me see again we are all different.

Yes Blues60 its been a Godsend to me helped me wean of Pramiprozole as that med caused me Augumentation. I started on 10mg didnt help RLS at all so tried 25mg still no effect so then went on 50mg and walla no RLS at all wwhat a relief i was ready to run to the hills it was so bad as it was effecting my arms, head and shoulders they all joined in with the RLS was a nightmare so i can truly empathize with you.

I know many will say it doesn't work for RLS but hand on heart its been a Godsend for me. I can only tell the truth about the help its given me.

How long did it take to kick in? And did it make rls worse like mine till upped dosage?
