Best Book for RLS

I’m slowly emerging from a horrible time switching cold turkey from Mirapex to gabapentin. Because of my misery I read, “Clinical Management of Restless Legs Syndrome” by Lee, Buchfuhrer, Allen and Hening.

From this book (as well as this wonderful online group) I’ve learned how to navigate this horrible disease. The book is small and a great resource.

I now am symptom free (mostly) using a 1mg Neupro patch ( my hope is it may not augment as quickly, and I hope to keep the DA as low as possible), along with 600 mg gabapentin three hours before bed and 325 iron tab two times a day (my iron ferritin level was 75.)

The neurologist said my misery coming off the Mirapex wasn’t so much withdrawal....but my body just needs the DA. Hummmmmmmm...?? Not sure how to interpret this.

Anyway, for all those in the middle of suffering there is hope. Arm yourself with knowledge.

I agree about the book. I find it to be a valuable resource and the section on opioid use is particularly useful

I think your neurologist is wrong about withdrawal.

Doctor Buchfuhrer, for one, thinks that pramipexole could cause true addiction, in the classic sense, not just dependence.

Those of us who try to reduce it would agree.
