I have RLS. Constant shaking in my legs, both while sitting down or laying down. My question is should I go to my GP or my neurologist? Or find someone who specializes in this disorder?
Thank you so much.

Most people see their GP to get diagnosed to having RLS. Some doctors will refer you to a neuro if they feel one can help you more than they can. There are not many who specialize in RLS.
Have you been taking any meds, including OTC meds? Anti histamines and anti depressants can cause RLS. First see a GP and ask for blood tests- you need to see what your iron levels are like ( serum ferritin needs to be above 100). Also need to rule out kidney problems as kidney disease can cause RLS.
Have you had RLS for a long time or is this a recent development?
Thanks for responding. I have had RLS for a few months now. I take antidpressants for BiPolar disorder for years now. I will take a blood test next week and then see my GP.
Thanks again!!!
As you refer to “my neurologist” it seems that you have other neurological concerns. Mention the shaking when you see the neurologist next?
