IS IT AN OPIATE, OR WILL IT EXACERBATE MY RLS
ZOPICLONE: IS IT AN OPIATE, OR WILL IT... - Restless Legs Syn...
ZOPICLONE
It’s not an opiate. I believe it’s used exclusively as a sleeping pill (though I’m not a physicist or chemist).
I haven’t read of it exacerbating rls - it’s not one of the usual culprits. However, unless your rls symptoms are under control with some other med/lifestyle choice, it won’t help you sleep as your symptoms will still wake you.
I find it makes everything more miserable as I am even more tired and dopey when the rls drags me out of sleep. I would only take it if I was sure my rls symptoms were not going to occur.
Zopliclone does nothing whatever for me, sadly.
It is a non-benzodiazepine sedative. The non-benzo that seems most recommended by the RLS experts is Eszopiclone, aka Lunesta.
It should not exacerbate RLS, it is not an opiate, and with luck, it will help you to get some rest. Whether it can/should be taken alongside an opiate is something for your doctor to decide.
thank you Parminter for you response
I wish you luck. Ask for Eszopiclone instead, if you can get it. Sadly I cannot get it where I am.
Thank you Parminter are you in the UK i don appreciate your advice
No Flame, I am in South Africa. A lot of the drugs that people talk about in these forums are not available to me. We have very strict, and very slow, medical controls.
But, we keep hoping!
Parminter, dit is nou vir jou iets, omtrent my hele lewe daar gebly. Here in the uk, we get all meds free as you know, but they don't know much about RLS, though we are expecting the Cannabis medicinal products to be legalised. Lovely to just run into you here. RLS was brought to the fore my Zola Budd who is or was a sufferer. Do you have experts there
