Do either of these medications make RLS worse? or Ropinirole less effective? I'm struggling on these.

Hi Peter

Are you sure it’s not the ropinirole you’re struggling with? Anti depressants can make RLS worse but ropinirole can also start working against you. How have things changed?

I know there are some you can take safely. Anybody out there tell me which?

In the meantime read the following links and check that you are not starting to augment on the ropinirole-

Thanks, Pam. I realise that augmentation could well be a factor. I'll be discussing this with my GP shortly. But I'm trying to get a full picture of all possibilities.

As already mentioned, SSRI antidepressants such as Prozac can exacerbate RLS.

It's also possible the Ropinirole is causing augmentation.

The good news, Lamotrigine, I read, is in some cases used as a treatment for RLS so might help rather than make RLS worse.

Prozac, and anti depressants in general can make RLS much worse. Check the info under medications to avoid:

Lamotrigine (Aka Lamictal) is for epilepsy. (I should know because I take them,)

Fluoxetine is one of those that will most likely make RLS worse.
