RLS & Celiac/Gluten Intolerance

I've been reading about a connection between gluten and RLS. Is anyone here gluten intolerant? I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and I'm sure it's from gluten. Just realized this about a year and a half ago. Try to be completely gluten free and I'm now off my Synthroid, so I guess that is a good sign, although it is still hard as heck to lose any of the 80 lbs I've gained since this all started. It took many years for them to figure out I was hypothyroid. People see you're fat and think you just eat ring dings and ho-hos all day. Any success stories with being gluten free and becoming symptom free for the RLS?

What does tsubo stand for? Is that an acronym or just its name? I cant find anything on tsubo.

I am gluten intolerant and it doesn't take long for the gluten to effect me after ingestion.

I recently went vegan and my RLS stopped. In a fit of self pity I had a burger on Tuesday and kick and jumped all that night. No points for guessing I am sticking to my vegan diet now!!!!

Raffs - How Vegan are you? Do you eat eggs, fish? All vegetables? What about Soy and Soy protein isolate (all of which I gave up in favor of grass-fed beef). RLS is a perplexing and fascinating condition.

I do not eat beef or pork. I was actually vegetarian for about 2 years in my 20s. Never went back to eating beef or pork, so I eat poultry. The need to be gluten free is quite limiting.

I have latent celiac. Latent being something that started after 40 and not from birth or early childhood. I am as GF as humanly possible, but still have RLS. I learned that latent CD has a neurologic component, for me that is RLS. My iron is fine and checked regularly. For me meds only work for a few days so I don't take them to avoid augmentation. I learned to live with RLS. If I have a very relaxed day with only light exercise and no stress, I do much better.
