Finally found some releif, it certainly wasn't easy, but I'm given hope. And no pharma drug.

Hi , my third ever post here , just wanted to say after 3 weeks battling with 24/7 pain and terrible RLS in the evening's /nighttime, finally I have found calm! I kind of went cold turkey as it were , stopped almost all medication for each of my ailments , it was tough , but now I am sleeping well , have even had two "lie ins " which I have not experienced in years, Augmentation nowhere in sight the past 5 days ! I'm not saying I'm out of the woods yet , and have to listen to my body so as not to tire myself out . I have started taking vitamin BComplex from Holland and Barrett. Having magnesium baths (2 cups magnesium flakes) 2-3 times per week . Any break through rls and I would soak my legs for 20 mins in warm water , or a full body soak if my legs and spine were envolved. This week I have only had the soak once .. It's no cure , I'm sure , but wanted to share my experiences , the last time I posted I was so full of despair , and I hated that ,so just to share what's happening , I'm feeling much better (for now anyways ) and hope others too can find some relief ,even if only for a time to get some rest in , I'm much more hopeful ☺

Thank you ,just thought I'd share how things have been , there is still a little restlessness , but it's not the desperate soul breaking position I was in , and boy was it ever so tough , so I'm gonna just keep listening to my body, i have tapered the amitriptyline down to 10mg every other day , so that too will be gone soon ,using breathing and meditation also. I know I wont get rid of rls, but I just hope to cope better ,and to lessen it wherever I can , and thank you , for being there 😉

Hi...instead of taking my Amitriptyline last night I took 2 Natrasleep and had one on stand by to take if I needed a trip to the bathroom but hey ho.....I slept like a baby all night long. (They suggest up to three....herbal remedy made by Omega Pharma UK.....used to buy from Tesco’s but not available there now so will find on internet). After reading advice on here about Amitriptyline making RLS worse, I won’t be taking any more. Don’t think there are withdrawal symptoms to be worried about as with the Ropinerole. Hope I can find these tablets and they continue to work...maybe worth you looking into too. I have got Tesco’s own version as a standby...similar ingredients. Good luck.

Thank you so much ,i will look out for those ☺

Hi again...unfortunately after searching for many hours, it seems Natrasleep is no longer available? But as I said in my previous post Tesco have brought out their own and they have very similar ingredients. They are just called a herbal Sleep Aid. Haven’t tried them yet as using up some Natrasleep but will keep you posted.

Thanks for that , i too have been looking and on the web it says halland and Barrett have the nutrasleep? I'm going to ask when I go to the shop in town if this is true and if not, could they get hold of it , they do however have another product called " Valerian Plus " which has many positive online feedback, so , i will ask about this too .

Holland and Barrat used to sell it but online it says out of stock and not sure if/when it will return. I’m going to give the Tesco one a try because in addition to Valerian it also has the hops in it.

I too found amitryptyline made my rls worse

M_argi, that is fantastic news. Was wondering how you were getting on. It is so good to hear that things have finally turned a corner of sorts for you. Well done for getting through the last few weeks. I and many others on here know well how desperate things can get. Hopefully, you will continue to improve. Have you checked your iron levels? I found that getting my serum ferritin levels up helped a lot once I got off the dopamine agonist.

Hi, well it has been really tough , i thought it had finally sent me insane at one point ,so desperate ,i don't know how I stuck with it but I needed to get off all the medication so I could see where I was going ,my doctor is backing me too ,she could see the difference in me too this week from a few weeks ago .

I will have my iron levels checked yes , thanks for that ,that was the thing I had forgot . I'm not altogether sure where I'm going with this ,but I'm feeling more positive every step ,so all advice is very welcome ☺

Thanks :)

That is great news. I have started taking Magnesium 500 mg and Iron supplement and cut my Amitriptyline in half which I take for Migraines. I will try and come off after seeing my Neurologist soon. I am improving. The RLS is calming. Good luck

Hi Sunshine458

Hi

I hall fill an empty spray bottle with magnesium flakes then top up with mineral water. I spray every day - no issues. Very cheap. A slight tingling feeling.

Hope that helps.

Yes, I think I have the same problem with the magnesium causing upset stomach. I stopped all the supplements I was taking 3 weeks ago to due to the diarrhoea on doctors advice that it might be one of these, or combination with my RLS meds causing the issue. My RLS has got way worse over those few weeks and I'm down to 1-2 hours slight a night again, but the diarrhoea did improve dramatically. I've started re-introducing the supplements one at a time to try to find the culprit. Gentle Iron was OK re-introducing last week, tried magnesium this week and the diarrhoea is back. Will of course cut it out again to see what happens.

Oh dear I’ve just started taking magnesium citrate powder only 2 days in but have had a bad tummy for the past 2 days also, I was hoping it was just my body getting used to it and was going to give it a few days more, hope it settles down soon

I don't ingest megnesium, as it does cause bowel movement and if you take too much this can cause intestinal gripes , so I prefer to just bathe in it , it takes seconds for the body to absorb it , and the benefits for me are enough time to get to sleep. I have thought about taking the pill form , but my fibro affects my stomach ,so I can't afford any stomach upset . God luck x

Magnesium malate or glycinate for migraines 200-300mg. I find capsules better than tablets.

Great news! Long may it last!

I find lower temps upset my RLS, I havnt met anyone else who gets this yet ,most everyone I have talked to,needs cold to help, i have to have warm ,? I have tried mint , and i also tried winter green spray , it worked at first but now drives my legs insane ,it felt like wasp stings all over my feet and ankles ,i had to wash it all of pronto , :( so , yep , gotta keep trying , experimenting with different things , within reason and safely of course .

I saw a program on ppl with different degrees of rls!?,,

Not one mentioned anything about trying to supplement or such , it just stressed the pure relentless struggle We have , which is good for the general public to know , but they could have gone into it a little deeper ,there was a guy on there , who's Rls was very muchlike mine , darkness= rls..morning comes and it goes ,unlesss im stressed or have done too much . He was using pain to deal with it , trapping his feet in doors, putting pressure on with chair legs ,i could totally relate to that , as a different pain ,a stronger one gave releif from the RLS pain/nerve irritation , it's not something to advise at all , I'm just saying I could totally relate , and it really does push us to lengths /means that are drastic .
