Delighted for you. Be aware of augmentation which is a hazard with those type of drugs. Long may you be symptom free.

Long may it continue. As Raffs advises- watch out for Augmentation. Keeping dose at 1mg max a day is recommendation.

That’s wonderful! Do you get any side effects?

Best wishes for continued relief.

New suggested warning for ropinirole:

No prob with ropinirole. May affect people diffetenty. As for me. Very good.

People can take a higher dose of Ropinerole for many years or just a few months before augmentation hits. You are being warned by members to be aware that it can happen and most likely will happen. Just look out for your symptoms becoming worse and starting earlier in the day. We see almost every day on here and other groups where people eventually shout for help because they are augmenting on a dopamine med. Glad its working right now so enjoy it.

All I can say is that it works totally for me and no side affects for 5 yrs. Everyone should just use what works for them.

No one is telling you NOT to take it, we are just trying to let you know what can happen. I have known people who have taken it for 10 years then its all gone pear shaped for them, as in augmentation. Its just a matter of letting you be aware. Keeping the dose as low as possible is better than keep increasing it IF it stops working.

in reply to

Thank you my dose is very low.

in reply to

Well thats good then, can i ask you what your dose it..?

in reply to

2mg 3xday

in reply to

That dose is not low at all in fact its way high. The old highest dose was only 4mgs and you are over that. The new dosage recommended is now only 1mgs I wont say anymore as we have said all we can to inform you of taking high doses.

Yes, saucerboat, that is a VERY high dose. You should be vigilant against increasing it further and also look out for impulse control issues (shopping, gambling etc). They are a very real side effects of these drugs.

You are fortunate that you are not experiencing additional rls symptoms during the day and extending beyond your legs into your body. That is a very usual experience on such a high dose.

Of say 1000 starting Ropinerol with no problems, 10% will experience augmentation during the first year. Of the 900 left, 10% of those will experience augmentation and so on each year. It's a throw of the dice for when your turn arrives. In addition, some will experience compulsive gambling, shopping and sex escapades, even, as the new warning emphasizes, months if not years after stopping the meds. So unless RLS is a problem all day, good to check about lowering dosage by taking only at night. What above posts are warning, and included in new guidelines, is best not to up dosage when current one stops working as that increases chances of augmentation and withdrawal symptoms later.

Use what works for you.
