I take iron before bed which is great but do I have to take it with juice. I think the sugar in the juice is making my brain overactive. Any suggestions would be appreciated

My understanding is that it is not necessary to take iron bisglycinate with juice (or other vitamin c). I seem to recall that it is already in a bio available form by virtue of whatever chemical interaction that occurred to cause it to be ferrous bisglycinate rather than, say, ferrous fumerate (which does require vit C to ensure optimal absorption). A person with a knowledge of chemistry/nutrition might verify this.
It is already bio available. Get your iron levels checked to be sure you don't get more than you need. Excess Iron and copper are found in the brains of people with Alzheimer's. Several recent studies have confirmed this.

It should be noted that excess iron might not be caused by taking too many iron tablets but because something has gone wrong with the body's distribution system. The presence if iron or copper does not prove that this is the cause of Alzheimer's but it would be interesting if someone has done some research that indicates this is the case. That would present a real problem to many RLS patients who have found relief by increasing their iron levels.
I believe low iron is a symptom of some forms of RLS. Why would you be low in Fe in the first place? Although not proven - it is probably inflammation in the brain. But RLS is also a complex interplay between Dopamine, Iron, and the neurotransmitters GABA and Glutamate. My iron levels normalized (went from 49 to 105) in about 3 months of Fe bisglycinate (18mg) daily, then another month of every other day, then once weekly, now none. RLS is now present only occasionally but sleep issues remain.
im about to start taking iron but how come you gradually went up dosages and went down cant you just take 40mg every other day for 3 months? also why did you stop wont your iron level drop
I don't think you need to continually supplement with iron if you don't need it. When my Ferritin level went to 105 - there was no more RLS symptoms except insomnia - no more up and walking. But, again no one ever optioned WHY was I deficient in the first place. I actually attribute it to a head injury a full year prior.
Thanks all for your replies. My iron is 114 so it’s ok but that was tested when I was only 2 days without iron. I have been taking spatone iron water for approx 3 years so I am probably naturally low. I have been doing well recently, I have had restless legs and arms on and off for about 30 years but have not given into prescription drugs yet as I fear augmentation. I swear by iron but restless legs or not, I still struggle to get more than 2 hrs sleep a night. Codeine helps but gives me horrendous constipation. Unfortunately last night at 2.30am my legs and arms were horrendous and that was after taking iron and then magnesium spray. The only thing I did differently was I ate some tinned peaches with dinner and I had one tablet of zinc carnosine after breakfast which I have never had before but then it seemed too long an interval from 9.30am to 2.30am to be getting restless legs because of that. I suppose the only way to find out is to take it another day : (
There is a lot of legitimate research out there. A UCLA study was extensive.
To be safe, iron and D levels should be checked every 6 months. Copper is in some many foods and is unnecessary to supplement.
