After 20 years of telling my doctors I can't sleep and having tried every sleep aide my new dentist sent me to a sleep doctor. I was diagnosed with RLS. I move 46 times per hour. Plus iron levels very low. And alpha wave intrusion(day time wave want to play at night and keep waking me up). Started ropinirole and feel great. I just learned about augmentation! And here I am. Want to learn all I can from all of you. Thank you

Welcome.
What dose of ropinirole has your GP got you on? Keep it low to avoid augmentation.
If your iron levels are low you might get complete relief from RLS without meds by increasing serum ferritin to 100+. You can take ferrous bisglycinate ( gentle iron ) at night on an empty stomach and you should notice an improvement.
Also avoid triggers like anti histamines and certain anti depressants.
Spend a few hours reading posts and also look at the main RLS UK website.
If you then have specific questions, there will always be someone on here to answer them.
It sounds like you have PLMD, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, which happens while you are asleep, not awake. RLS stops you sleeping, or can wake you up from sleep. Dopamine meds like Ropinerole are used for both conditions.
Hi,Gvmccurry, Glad you're seeing a sleep doctor. I'm fairly new and this is a great site to get information that even great doctors don't always think to tell you or even know about. I've mentioned in other posts-probably too often-the best way to learn about an illness is to talk to patients who suffer with it. Welcome.
Hello and welcome.
I'm with Elisse on this one. You say you were diagnosed with RLS, but then you say you move 46 times/hr. As far as I'm conerned, counted movements are only associated with PLMD. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)
I have severe PLMD and, while I know what my PLM numbers are (60 movements/hr.), I do not know what my RLS numbers are. About 80% of RLS sufferers have PLMD as well.
The only way to diagnose PLMD is through a polysomnography. (Which it sounds like you already had that done; how else would you know your movement numbers?)
PLMD is diagnosed by having a sleep study, the movements are recorded while you sleep. RLS isnt diagnosed by a sleep study. its diagnosed by how you describe your symptoms. But re-reading your post, you say you cant sleep... so maybe you have both conditions which some people do.
Ropinerole, mirapex, neuronton, you name it I have had it. I have had RLS most of my life.
Recently I have purchased some cbd and also some canabis. Not much help from cbd, but I seem to have a little less RLS with canabis oil.
