Acupuncture for RLS?

Hi

Has anyone on in this forum ever tried acupuncture for their RLS? I had it as treatment for back spasms in my lower back some years back, and found it very effective. And as RLS is a similar brain - muscle activated problem, I wondered if it would be effective for that too.

On a different note. I have been taking Pram for around 3 months now, but have been struggling with the morning side effects, so I have reduced the prescribed amount to half, ie 1 tablet at night, and have found that it work just as well with my RLS and the side effect very much reduced. Worth a try for those out there that also suffer from the side effects of Pram.

Can't say I've had it for RLS but I did have it for pain. I found there was a temporary easing but could have been placebo too.

I'd say it would be worth a shot especially since there is no side-effects. I am sure there have been others on here that have used it, I'm sure if it was good I'd be doing it.

If you do try let us know how you get on.

Hi, have you tried it from the same person before for something else?

Just wondering if it's the singer, not the song.

Interesting point. No I haven't. I have tried many different alternative treatments for it though to no avail.

I have tried acupuncture AND hypnotherapy neither helped my RLS.

Joining those replying to the request about acupuncture I posted some time ago I did it for sciatica I was practically tethered to the house unable to walk and excruciating pain managed to drag my-self to a dear little Chinese doctor,I had 3treatments and was mobilized it did zilch for my RLS but as we have all pointed out every one reacts in a different way.It would do no harm to try this I did not tell her about the RLS for each condition different sites are used and do not know if the same site for sciatica and RLS are treated.I was somewhat taken aback at the size of the needles and no pain on insertion and no sign where they had been.I would suspect for our malady a number of sessions would be needed.I don,t know any one who has tried this so this is all my information on the subject.

I tried it at the Camden acupuncture Centre ( professors from China regularly in attendance) & it did sweet fa for my RLS.

However, everyone's different so it may work for others ( or even the placebo effect).

The only thing that ever worked for me is not using a computer. When on vacation and away from screens and work stress. I sleep 4 hours straight, wake up for a few minutes and sleep another 3 to 4. This has been consistent. Sorry to say, I can't seem to flourish at home without my computer, but I am trying to find ways to get me off web earlier and this seems to help.

Yes. I tried acupuncture. I used same practitioner over 6 weeks. I had an episode on table could not control it. I gave it a good try but it just didn't work.
