Stopped Mirapex .75mg daily 6 days ago. Am now taking lyrica 75mg and tramadol 50 mg at noon and 6pm.
I felt that I had quite a few side effects from the Mirapex including head aches, very stiff neck, arthritis, occasional rashes, fibromyalgia, less effectiveness, and some possible others. I've done a lot of research of why you should get off of Mirapex and I am determined to do it. It is a very sneaky drug. Provides relief but as time goes on it can be a real disaster.
Under this new regimen, first couple of days had no sleep and a lot of pains and rls.
Still very little sleep (2-3 hours) but less pain, calmer legs and some strange feelings? It seems to be getting quite a bit better on the 6th night.
I am hoping that this will work to get "Mirapex free" no matter how painful or how long lt takes.
If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to reply. Thanks

Firstly I'm impressed by your determination to get off this horrible drug!
Goodness, that was a high dose of Mirapex!
I wonder, did you try or consider slowly reducing the dosage ?
I hasten to add that I'm no expert here, but I am also wanting to end my dependace on Pramipexole, the side effects are horrible. The trouble is knowing which ailments are caused by it? I seem to have many as I've been on Pramipexole for 12 year, one is, I can't stay awake in the evening. It seems to me that poor sleep pattern is a major cause of RLS and it's a downwards circle.
Please could you keep us all up to date with your situation, anything helps and encourages us addicts?
I stopped pramipexole in May 2015 after using this drug for six years. Reason was a sudden illness so I stopped 'cold turkey'. The rls got so much worse during cleaning up which took three months. Cooling my legs with cold water and walking, walking walking during the night seemed to be my destiny. However I followed the same daily structure, the routine I build in and tried to avoid any form of stress. I persevered and i am glad I did and that I am med-free. Stopping was a blessing in disguise.
At the point I was exhausted and weakened by lack of sleep I started with protein shakes, the casein protein with delayed release. Casein has the ability to provide your bloodstream with a slow and steady flow of amino acids that could last for hours. This seemed to calm down the rls for me. I am a sports(wo)man on daily basis and I still take the casein shakes before sleeping.
Hi I am the same as you , I do not think that Pramipexole is working any more going to see doctor not sure what to do I have had RLS for 20 years or more I am now 68 all the best
All the best to you,I am on the same as you but also have the patch as well ,I had awfull itching with the tramodol but that went,at the minute I am doing ok hope you do to
Welcome and well done for trying to get off this horrible drug. It will be very tough for 2/3 weeks and you'll get little sleep but the tramadol will help. Once you're through withdrawal. (10-14 days after last dose of mirapex) the lyrics should start to help enormously.
I wish you success and everyone on here will be wishing you well.
it is hell coming off i,ve been there but since i have i have,nt looked back still have my bad days [ but rare ] but life is A LOT better so hang on in there it will get better
