I have suffered for 50years with rls and was recommended Ropinerole tablets by a lady from rls society 10 years ago they are are magic. My doctor hadn't heard of this cure but agreed to try it and it works I couldn't live without it. I have told others about it and they have been overjoyed at the results

My cure
Wouldn't say its a cure more of a treatment but delighted it works for you. Take care with it though, if you find you need to get more and more of it and things are getting worse then augmentation can be occurring so please be aware of that and the side-effects of it which can be very severe.
Glad things are good for you.

Ropinirole can cause nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, orthostatic hypotension, and sudden sleep attacks during the daytime. Unusual side effects specific to D3 agonists such as ropinirole and pramipexole can include hypersexuality, punding and compulsive gambling, even in patients without a history of these behaviours.
I would keep a good eye on myself or have a loved one do it to make sure you don't get those side-effects unawares to yourself.
Yes definitely be cautious about increasing the amount of ropinerole you take - if you find yourself needing more to cover your symptoms it might be better to supplement with a different drug.
Also do look out for the side effects Raffs highlights. They are sadly far from unusual. Especially in a higher dose.
Really glad you are experiencing relief however.
It is important to keep your iron levels high when in dopamine agonists such as ropinerole. It might be worth getting your serum ferritin levels checked by your GP. You should be aiming for a figure of over 100 according to the latest expert opinion in rls.
Thanks for your comments I am aware of side effects but fortunately for ten years don't seem to have had any problems I am not on a high dosage though just one morning and one at night.
Definately not a cure, but a treatment, You have found a treatment which is giving you relief. As the others have said just be aware if you find your symptoms are starting to get worse, it could be augmentation.
In what way augmentation do you mean the rls might increase

I thought it was a miracle too...until my restlessness started coming in the afternoon. Then in the morning. I'd had restless legs for ages, but only an annoying level. Yes, some nights I couldn't sleep and ended up taking a bath or wandering the house. But it was only sometimes, and never to the severe, going-out-of-my mind level that it can be now. Same with the daytime. But once I started taking ropinerole the absolute NEED for it EVERY DAY became what I imagine heroin addicts feel. I tried weaning, but just couldn't do it. Now I take half a 2mg pill at night and 1/4 during the afternoon. I'm managing, but dread the likely need to increase dosage, which I'm told is likely. I was so much better off before, annoying as it was, than I am now. I feel as if my doctor got me hooked, and I resent it totally.
it worked for me for 15 years just 0.5 mg at night but then all of a sudden it stopped working . I thought I had just got used to that dose and thought I might need to increase it. Luckily i came by this site before I did and read about Augmentation. I came off Ropinerol altogether and changed to something else. I don't regret taking it though as for 15 years it worked really well. Just be careful and if you notice you seem to be having symptoms again do not let your doctor increase the dose come off it and try something else
