My meds and the time of taking them have stayed exactly the same since my last post yet I was awake at 3.00 this morning and whenever I slipped back to sleep movement woke me up. Odd isn't it? I had better give driving a miss today!

Sleep
Hi martino,we all have weird things going on most of the time ,I had a funny night last night to ,,legs were good ( touch wood ) but most of the night just lay there,b annoying
Hi Mopsy
The slightly irritating thing is that whilst my meds are not wholly dealing with day time pain, they do seem to be giving me fairly still and relatively painless evenings. As soon as I wake in the morning it is either squirming legs or legs that stay still until I nod off. The instant that happens they jerk me back to consciousness. I stubbornly refuse to get up until 6.00 so I have 1, 2 or today 3 hours of battle. I see my doc on Friday but don't really know what to ask him for. A cure perhaps!
Ha Ha wouldn't that be fantastic ,, a cure ,might as well wish for the moon ,but to have through the day that must be terrible to have first thing in the morning at least mine is at night ,hope the doctor comes up with something a more promising for you ,what are you taking now ? Not that I'm much help but someone else might be
Hi Mopsy
I agree with Elisse's comments that we have no idea why something that seemed to work one day doesn't the next. I have a 1mg Neupro patch. I take 300 mg of Gabapentin about 6.00am, another 300 at about 2.00pm and the last 300 at 10.45pm when I go to bed. I take 50mg Tramadol at 6.15pm and 50mg at 8.15pm. Plus all this I take 1.25mg of clonazepam at 10.30pm. As you can see it is all quite precise! This has all been trial and error! A cure from the doc would be much simpler and quite a saving for our cash strapped NHS!
Martino sometimes meds fail us, and we have no idea why. Sometimes it can be just one night or two or three night, then the meds go back to working. I would give it a bit longer before you decide to change meds. It can even be you ate or drank something that was a trigger for you.
Hi Elisse
What I might do tonight is take 0.75mg of clonazepam and try 0.5mg when I wake to see if that gets me back to sleep. Other than the sleep time the meds are generally doing the trick so I wouldn't want to change too much. My neuro said that if the Neuro and the Gabapentin don't work I should try leva dopa but from what I have read that would not be a good idea certainly long term
Hi Martino
I take clonazepam which is prescribed up to 2 mg per night! Although I never take that amount. I take 0.5 mg and get off to sleep okay but get woken by my legs jerking after around 3 hours. Then I take another 0.5 mg and, although I don't get back to a deep or restful sleep, I tend to dream off an on for the next four hours but at least I don't stress about the fact that I am pretty much awake for that time. Sleeping pills don't knock me out for the whole night either, I just wake up after 3 hours.
Hi
I have only had RLS since April last year and my doc initially prescribed clonazepam. 2mg at night were great but then I had a brief encounter with pramipexole and ropinirole. Failure with them resulted in a neurologist referral and an increase to 4mg of clonazepam. The neuro arranged scans and sleep study and meanwhile wanted me to get down to 0.5mg of clonazepam. After the scans which were largely uninformative the Rotigotine started. Since last night I am taking 0.75mg of clonazepam when I go to bed and 0.5 when I go to the loo normally 3 hours later. Like you the time from waking to getting up at 6.00 produced fitful sleep. I think I am getting rebound with theRotigotine. I see my doc on Friday and I am hoping for the patch to go and have increased Gabapentin to compensate. I am reconciled to having no more than 5 hours sleep each night but we shall see!
