I slept last night

I awoke with

Euphoria, ecstasy

A sense of peace

And wellbeing.

What is the explanation

Pills, exercise

Meditation?

And enigma

No logic

But the welcoming

Satisfaction of sleep.

Absence of a trigger.

What does your diary say?☯️

I used to keep one listing all medication, triggers such as caffeine exercise etc etc but it fell by the wayside!

Once I woke up with the same euphoria, like I've become enlightened overnight. The feeling was I could cure people with my hand full of energy. I didn't do anything unusual the previous evening. Worked, drank some alcohol, I did it many times before. The only variable was my blanket moved aside and I woke up almost naked in a freezing room.

It’s soooo good when you have a night of sleep.

I still get 2/3 bad nights every week but just one good night makes me feel wonderful.

Enjoy the feeling.

I slept last night for 12 hours, the first night in the last three months to do so and yes, it was bliss. What did I do that was different? I have not a clue! All I know is it was wonderful and maybe ??? I will sleep tonight as well but I won't hold my breath. :)

So happy for you! Enjoy. And, indeed, don’t dread the nights, just see what happens. This good night will have replenished some of your energy to ‘go with the flow’. Anyway, I hope the good nights continue.

One more good night under my belt! I must say, it makes a world of difference to one's outlook. However, with this awful disease, I know not to expect it to continue but will enjoy it while it does. I may just be that the Lyrica has kicked in? Who knows. Again as with this awful disease, it's mostly guesswork anyway! :)

Hi I've just read your comment from 5 months ago re sleep and the fact that you'd been sleeping and that you were on Lyrica. I just wondered if it was still working for you. I was put on the lowest dose (can't remember what that is) a couple of months ago and although it seemed to work at first, I started waking in the early hours with RLS. My doc then upped the dose and again its been like heaven - for a while. But recently I'm once again waking very early and the twitches are kicking off again. It's so disappointing but I'm reluctant to just keep upping the strength. I just wondered how you're doing with it. 😊

Unfortunately I relapsed suffered from augmentation and back to square one!

Trying desperately to come off pramipexole but finding it difficult!

Marilynn, I ended up going off it as I was getting symptoms day, evening and night as well. I was up to 300mg and wasn't going to go higher. Sorry not to have good news. As I wrote here, 2% of people do suffer from augmentation and certainly, since going off it... and off tramadol, my legs have been better- I could have been augmenting on Tramadol too??? I've gone back on pramipexole and Targin for the time being though am not staying on it long. It's just giving me a break quite successfully. Legs are currently manageable and sleeping ok too which is great given that I'm having huge issues with a different health problem at the moment, which is taking all my energy to deal with. Good luck to you. :)

Tramadol can make RLS worse. That was my experience with it.

Marilynn profile image
Marilynn in reply tosweetiepye

I've never been on tramadol but I did used to find cocodamol helped. My doctor could never understand how taking a painkiller could help RLS but it did. I was only taking 2 before bed (sometimes later on I'd have to take 2 more) but that's it. However when I had to come off it for a hospital app I was nearly tearing my hair out. So I decided to stay off it and I have apart from very occasionally if I need to cos the legs are bad despite meds but that's it.

Marilynn, I find cocodamol useful for occasional use too. It’s the codeine that it contains that’s the useful element.

You can be prescribed codeine on its own which means that you don’t get a dose of paracetamol (cocodamol is paracetamol + codeine)

Thanks. That's a good thought about just getting the codeine. Still have some cocodamol so will prob use that up and see about the codeine. Thank you. X

Hi restlessstoz. Thank you for answering my question. When you said you were up to 300mg do you mean you were taking that amount twice daily or is that 150 twice daily? At the moment I'm on 150 twice daily but like you I don't want to keep taking more and more. I'm also taking other meds for other health conditions which I know don't help with RLS but what can you do? I'm so glad you've managed to sort things out a bit for yourself and I pray that it will continue for you. God bless xx

I was taking the 300mg in the early evening. I think for pregabalin, that's the optimum dose overall but I'm not sure about splitting it as I didn't do that. Good luck with it. :)

Hi restlessstoz. I take 150mg twice daily. This is how I was instructed to take it and also what I've read about how it should be taken. So far so good - although I have had the odd night with RLS but nothing like it was before. I understand from my doctor that there are bigger strengths should I need it but I'm hoping not to need it. Dont want to start taking more and more. How are you now? You said you're not taking it any more didn't you? Are you coping? It's a pain this condition isn't it? So difficult to control. Hope you've managed to get sorted. 😏

I'm currently back on pramipexole for a short time along with Targin. It's controlling the RL very well, with minor breakthrough in the afternoon/evening sometimes. I'm currently experiencing other major health problems which are more debilitating and so I'm thankful that my RL is under control. I'm not under any illusions though that the prami. isn't going to work long term but even for the short term, it's helping me get through the other issues... a day at a time. :)

Thanks Lotte. HU has stopped letting me know when people reply!!! Annoying.

I've still been sleeping better. Currently adding l-theanine to my regime. Perhaps it will help as well. It won't do any harm anyway... I hope. Only using the advised dosage.

Meanwhile, I'll keep on keeping on and enjoying every bit of sleep I get, which is still more than I was having so good news. :)

Recently I had a one hour flight to another city. I arrived at 3pm exhausted for some reason. At 7pm I could not stay away. I went to bed, woke at 11pm for a snack, back to bed and didn't waken until 9:50am the next morning. No reason whatsoever. No idea why. Was a great sleep then I had 2 night of horrendous RLS and very little sleep.

Lucky you to have that wonderful time of sleep but you certainly paid for it. It's so frustrating to have RL and not know what's triggering bad episodes so you have my complete sympathy. I hope your legs have settle d a bit again now.
