Sorry to hear your troubles. Would you try a warm mug of milk with some cinnamon and turmeric and some honey? Have you a sleeping pill such as Zolpidem/ Ambien-- just to get you to sleep.

All the best.

If my theory is right, that rls can be caused by high blood sugar, the honey it likely to make it worse.

Honey don't count, honey chile.😋

Just because it's natural? Over 80% of it is sugar. Over 30% is glucose, which will get into the bloodstream faster than a rat up a drainpipe. You can't make up science just because it suits you.

sorry you are in a state Beady I am up at 228 am in us thankfully have taken my tramadol but am wide awake as a result. one can,t win although would rather be awake than the RLS.

Hi fiends. I agree with Retren, I’d rather be awake than have RLS. I’ve accepted the sleepless nights which usually last up to 3 hrs, I watch a movie, go online, read, PRAY, praying can make you fall asleep pretty fast, 😂, and I’m a good catholic, I don’t even make it to the end of the Our Father. Back to RLS, unfortunately some drugs have side effects, usually most do, Tramadol causes sleeplessness for a few hours but it’s my drug of choice and has been working for me for 7 years. Saying that, I will trade a sleepless night ( just a few hours) for not having RLS which can make you insanely mad when having an attack. I have full body RLS, not fun and it makes me feel like crying with desperation. Good luck to all.

I didn't see your post while you were up but it was likely I was too. It's never ending isn't it? I don't go on holidays now or visit folk except good old friends/family who have lots of space to wander in and understand. I don't ask anyone to stay either. which sounds so antisocial. I have dug my hard shoes into my feet to cause pain to keep them still at concerts ( usually starts after the interval ) but still get funny looks as the urge to move is so intense. I have seriously considered getting up and disturbing people to leave mid concert but have managed not to though I expect my wriggling has disturbed folk all the same.

At night I have frequent hot baths when at home - not suitable if anyone else around but it works for a while, or do puzzles or knit if I can engage my brain. I try to avoid eating sweet biscuits which I am desperate to do during the night but it just makes things worse of course.

So when you are up and wandering or not doing what you would previously have enjoyed there will always be someone out here sympathising in spirit. We just have to somehow be here for each other don't we?

Hi Alison7. Just read your post. If you are going to a concert, theater, or traveling long distance, why don’t you take a dose of your meds prior to going? Why put yourself in such a disturbing situation for yourself, I don’t mean disturbing the other people, I mean YOU, putting yourself in such a hurting position. I can’t sit through a movie more than 10/12 min before the RLS starts bothering me, so now, I don’t travel, go anywhere that I have to be still without previous medication. I don’t know what you’re on or how its dispensed, but is it possible to get off the grid for a little just so you can enjoy your time? I hope so, then once I’m home I follow my regular regime. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for your reply and advice. However I haven;t found any medicines which now work, apart from possibly 30mg codeine which I allow myself to take once a night maximum so I don't have anything at my disposal. I'm at the stage now of just having to bear with it all and cope as best I can ...... and MAKE myself avoid eating anything containing sugar as I have a bad habit of lapsing into going for a sugar hit when i'm trying to cope with feeling so tired.

I do also think sugar things don’t help me

Hi beady 3. It never occurred to me that sugar might have an influence on RLS. I am so sugar addicted it isn’t funny. I’ve gained some weight this past year and I’m starting a diet this week, sugar will be one of my items to omit, I hope it will help some with the RLS. When children have hyperactivity they usually recommend NO SUGAR as one ingredient to take them off. I guess maybe the sugar triggers the RLS because if you think about it, RLS is like having hyperactivity in the legs, arms, full body like me. Hmmmm, thanks for the info.

Yes, i go through the same. Today am going out for lunch... only slept a couple of hours and apparently kicked and moved that whole time, according to hubby.

Thank you all my friends for bothering to reply to me , I do some times have 3 baths a night because when in the bath I am not in any pain, just think I might sleep all night tonight and the answer is pigs might fly xx

in reply to beady3

I think the same every night, that I'll sleep as I used to. The sleepy feeling is the same as it always was in the past when all you had to do was go to bed. i used to be able to sleep absolutely anywhere - took it for granted........ then the pigs might fly reality kicks in each night but I'm lucky that I don't dread the nights like some do. My brain just lulls me into a false sense of security every day!

Dear Beady in a small act of defiance to RLS I had notepaper which depicted pigs flying on it unfortunately the company discontinued it.As for sugar and all the substitutes they seem to trigger this condition off for me. In fact so many things do my diet is very problematic.I think also something to do with the aging process as well.We all have our lives so affected by this condition. thank goodness my sons have not so far inherited this although my first born requires very little sleep which is from his father who only slept about 2hours a night.
