Dopamine med or something else?

I've read that professionals are leaning more and more away from dopamine agonists because of augmentation and other side effects and swaying towards other medications as a first line treatment. I've seen that low doses of opiods are frequently used but isn't there risk of addiction and extreme withdrawals?

Many doctors are afraid of causing opiate addiction and in IL U.S.A. where I live they are afraid of loosing their ability to prescribe class 2 drugs, which the state has just done with low dose opiates.

mayo clinic did a study and found the dopamine agonists are certainly more dangerous to our health than opiates. They used codine in doses so low the patients never felt high or uphoric. There was not even one case of drug abuse or addiction and all the RLS patients got relief from all symptoms. if I could find a doctor who would give me about 29 mg of codine with a 300 mg acataminiphin, I'd throw the requip in the garbage and have a much quieter life.i am sat the maximum dose for ropinirole and have 2 hrs min of bad RLS. It is a bad choice but the only choice for me.

Yes, anyone can become addicted to narcotics. I had an experience where I was going through augmentation, did not know what was going on, had 4 back to back surgeries in 4 months. I was give a lot of narcotics but went through horrible withdrawal from both the mirapex and the narcotics. If one is given enough narcotics anyone can become addicted. Also some of the medications used in surgery aggravate rls. It was the worst hell I have ever been through and lasted for months. I finally found that if I take a high dose of magnesium malate (1200mg) a night. I usual take 1/2 early in the evening and the other half when I go to bed. At least I am able to lay down and sleep for a few hours. I know everyone is different. I wish you the very best.
