It had disappeared for a while. ...

Last night i had one of the worst night in years. My symptoms had actually almost gone for about a year. .. Only some mild leg restlessness sometimes. But last night. .. Oh last night. .. It started with nightmares then scared wake ups. .. Then failing to fall asleep and panting. Suddenly something new. .. I would normally feel my legs going crazy before I feel on my upper body. .. But my legs were fine. .. However my right arm. Holy S***. It came with an adrenaline rush and a huge anger. I had to get off the bed before I start punching . Immediately did lots of push ups, punching the air, punching walls, flexing all muscles on my right arm to the point it would hurt. I had forgotten to put the wheelie bin outside and it was full. .. 3am, not a problem I lifted both and carried it outside. Couldn't go back to sleep. It was a warm night. I ended up sleeping on my backyard on the hammock. But it was more of shutting off than going to sleep. Now its midday and I'm experiencing something new, my arm still a little restless. I had never felt this during the day. ..

I wanted to ask if there is a way to make a proper survey here? I read one persons comment saying that they never had it before going to the Americas and it made me curious because I'm brazilian.

Oh man I know how you feel, I spent last night writhing on the sofa, the crawling in my back and arms overwhelming that of my legs, (managed to get a couple of hours sleep after 7am.

I only thought I had it bad when it was just in my legs but as it has progressed around my body life has gotten a lot more difficult when it flares up. At its worst it was lasting 18/20 hrs a day it was such a nightmare.

As far as home treatments hot baths are the only thing that helps, (some Epsom salts and lavender oil too), are you taking any drugs? The GP should be able to sort you with something or you could try cannabis or Kratom if you don't want to use some of the more 'heavy' prescribed drugs such as Miripexin.

Good luck

It's midnight now, my symptoms have been ongoing the whole day. Sometimes worse than others. I actually feel angry. The symptoms are somehow inside my head, I'm not only feeling it on my muscles. .. I can feel it on my mind. .. It's hard to explain. I've been feeling very angry the whole day. I'm lucky nobody pushed me because I've been on the edge. I'm concerned I've never had the symptoms lasting the whole day. I think I have a bit of an indigestion and it could've been the cause so I actually avoided eating most of the day. I have never tried medication. I've tried vitamins and supplements but nothing. In the past stress control seemed to work and I've managed pretty well that way for a long time.

Oh my goodness raffs! I certainly know what that full body RLS feels like. Hot showers and exercise did help (up to 6 showers a night) but I eventually succumbed to taking an extremely low dose of Pramipexole (Sifrol); however, I am now completely off that now and took the advice of those on this web site, especially Elisse and Pippins2 and others. Now I am just on a low dose of Lyrica and Tramadol. Without their knowledge I would have taken the advice of my Sleep Disorder/Lung specialist and kept on increasing the Pramipexole where I could have had severe augmentation. I hope my words don't come back and bite me now that I have written this post. Hope this helps someone anyway.

I had taken Mirapexin and developed what I thought was augmentation - that's when it hit my arms and back, (after about 40 years of RLS I was shocked that it could effect the whole body).

Naturally I stopped the drug but the augmentation didn't abate so it must have been a natural exacerbation of the problem. I was in no way going to take a dopamine agonist again and run the risk of making things worse, but like yourself I got some great advice and started taking the Neupro patch and things are by and large pretty good, (an odd bad night with some discomfort at other times.

This has been a great source of comfort for me - keep it up guys.

I agree Raffs, I am so grateful to those who know what RLS is all about and impart very helpful information to this website. I have had RLS on and off since I was 14 years old and will be 82 this year and usually full of beans but I was hit with atrocious RLS with full body movement after withdrawing from Norspan (an opiate) patch a few months ago. Thank goodness I listened to you guys and not the doctors because I do have relief now.

Did you start taking some medication for something else?? With nightmares and all, sounds like side effects, but just an opinion.

No really didn't. Kinda wish I did because there would be an easy solution. ..

Hate that. Hope you figure it out.

Almost sounds like a panic attack. I have woken up with this from a bad dream which triggers a fight or flight rush of adrenalin. I felt short of breath with anxiety and wanting to get up and run. Exactly what my doc says to do, that or push ups and squats to burn up the adrenalin. Once I understood what was going on it stopped.
