Oi Vei!!!! Adderall -.-

RLS-RBSD-Narcolepsy profile image

My doctor tried me on a combination of Nuvigil and Adderall to combat my narcolepsy. First dose was yesterday and I will NEVER do that again. I felt like someone plugged me into a nuclear power plant and when it wore off I did a barrel roll style crash with an emotional meltdown in tears. Bad. Day.

Not very relevant to your post but please can you say what oi vei means. Heard this a number of times but never known what it means. Thanks

"Oy vey (Yiddish: אױ װײ), oy vay, or just oy—or even more elaborately oy vey ist mir—is an exclamation of dismay or exasperation like "woe is me". That's what comes up on a google search. Though I was familiar with the term- used often among the Jewish population, esp on the east coast of the US. (New York!!)

Thanks for posting this. I was taking modafinil for excessive daytime drowsiness and it wasn't working, so I was thinking of asking the doctor if I could try something else, maybe Adderall... guess I won't bother now. :)

It might work better for you than for me, I tend to be very sensitive to some drugs. But Wow... for me, it was like bad crack .... (not that I have ever tried crack.... lol just making an analogy)

I'm also very sensitive to most everything. Whenever my doctor gives me something, he always says: "we'll start you off on a baby dose and go from there."

that`s hardly surprising because adderal is basically speed, I used to take it now & again to get high when I was much younger, but the after effects were terrible! That`s why I stopped taking it!

Sounds like perhaps you should try it for a few days so your system gets used to it. Doctors are unlikely to prescribe anything harmful, if the benefits do not outweigh the positives. And your doctor must have thought the treatments suitable - so give them a fair go but let the gp know about these side effects, they are probably temporary. Maybe the dose may need tweaking in the weeks to come. After reading bout these treatments regarding daytime sleepyness, this gives me renewed hope that I could get back to earning again (I have an atos test next week and will prob try to force me into normal active work, as I look 'normal' and walk very well now, despite my grade3 slip beinng taken down to a 1- walking is just about the only thing that has been vastly improved- even standing is intolerable after a few seconds- causing me to 'dance'! So perhaps I could increase painkillers for more effective relief). As due to a back injury nearly 3 yrs ago I am on high doses of painkillers et all and cause me bad daytime sleepiness, nodding off and microsleeping (very dangerous when trying to stay awake with hot coffee). I would go as far as to say, I would be a health and safety nightmare in any work capacity despite consuming caffeine. I would even say that my cocktail of 7 meds renders me a road hazard AM and I avoid mornings or an evening dose of one drug. Unfortunately drugs for pain esp nerve pain work on brain as well as nerves and pain sites Maybe just IF?? I could have 1 or even both of these treatments, I could return to the land of the living/earning instead of attempting to survive on esa (I needed no atos to get that). After a few months on that, the best I can say is that 2 1/2 st weightloss down to 7st is more than I could have hoped for whilst working. I know that in receipt of pips work is still permitted, but I am totally incapable and dangerous now, but on these meds maybe it could offer some hope to folks like me who are still happy to be exploited again to regain some self respect. Maybe I could also do standing, bending or lifting? I am well aware my productivity would still be a major issue - (but flat contracts ie 30hrs at a certain rate so you get pay for what you complete- so it could take a person like me 60 hrs to complete a task that would take a fitter, less broken employee 30 hours. Pay would be the same for task completed-not for hours worked. )
