However , recently and on several occasions it has not worked . I just wondered if I was becoming immune to it and whether I needed a change in medication ??

Hi there, what dose do you take each day? Could be the start of augmentation for you x

0.088mg x6 a day

Yes sounds like augmentation, I found when it occurred with me the pramipexole didnt work so well at night, started earlier in day and spread into my arms. You are right ready for a change it meds as augmentation gets progressively worse.See your doctor about changing. Many have a change for a few months then go back on pramipexole and it starts to work again.Dont just stop them though without help your legs will go nuts! The new recommended maximum dose has mow been set at 2x0.088 to try to reduce augmentation, good luck x

Thank you I will see Dr. I just hope other medications work just as well, as up until now it has worked wonders . Very nervous about changing to something else and having to suffer during change over . X

I can understand you being nervous, some people just have a break from mirapex(pramipexole) for a couple of weeks to try and reset things.I came off it recentlyI decided to have a lomg break off all the dopamime drugs and have been off for around 5 months or so not sure exactly. Alot of members seem to use tramadol to help but I must say it didnt help me.I weaned down very very slowly over a period of around 6 months. The experts now say stop cold turkey and use strong painkillers to get you over the withdrawal period when legs are likely to be very severe . However not many docs will prescribe them in UK dont know where you live.If you change to ropinerole or neupro patch hopefully wont be bad but I haven't done that do cant say.I tried ropinerole many years ago but didnt work for me.Mirapex was amazing until augmentation. This is why I always try to poimt this problem out to newmembers, Take a look at jenna scribbles.com coming off mirapex gor tips from others going through It.I wish you lots of luck kim x

When this happened to me, I simply cut back on the dose and all settled down OK and has been like that for 4 years. However I don't now anyone else this has worked for??!!

Bob

Hi Bob, you were lucky to be able to drop your dose down without any problems. Most people find even if they drop the dose by a half a pill they will not sleep. Those pesky dopamine receptors just know they are not getting the full fix. :P
