Can anyone tell me why I twitch when I wake. I've slept a bit last night and woke up ok. I was just resting and then the twitching started in my back. It's like it arches and the nerves jangle. Then it jerks and twitches and just won't stop. I have to get up but that doesn't stop it. Then it goes into my legs and everywhere else. The only what to help is to get a shower and walk until it stops. I have really bad RLS and sleep is hit and miss so to sleep for a few hours is a blessing, I'm taking Ropinerole ( 1mg late afternoon so I can sit and watch tv - 1mg during the evening another 2mg at bedtime) Pregabalin and Clonazapam. This usually gets me a few hours sleep on and off during the night. I also have Fibromialgia so I have pain from that at night too. I take pain killers for that. Usually the nights are disturbed for one reason or another but this when I wake puzzles me. Can anyone suggest why it's happening. Many thanks.

Can anyone tell me.......
Not sure why that happens...rls will wake me up when the painkillers wear off. I get it in my lower back and pelvis too. Sorry I can't help . Totally off topic I just wanted to moan to someone who understands. I had some treatment with my koren lady yesterday and was ok . No symptoms at work all evening cos I was moving around, but as soon as I got home ......wham! I've been wandering around since 1am and its now nearly 4 pm. Drifted to sleep a couple of times for about 5 mins. I'm wrecked. And I have to go to work in an hour!! It's really getting too much!
Oh Bless you. I do understand as I suffer in a similar way. It baffles me as to why more research hasn't been done on RLS. Are you on any other meds apart from painkillers? I know a lot of people don't like taking the dopamine and other things but I've decided that the side effects are less than the awful damage the illness does to me. I have in the past been without sleep for 4 days and nights because of continuous twitching. It's not something that I can tolerate any longer so I take the meds my consultant suggested... but 'tweaked' by my lovely doctor. Do you have a nice doctor you can talk things through with? If you haven't tried other things maybe you would consider giving something a go.Sending you a hug and I really hope you get some relief soon.
