Hi Pame,

So sorry to hear your Dad has developed a pressure sore.

Sadly pressure sores are one of the risks associated with the later "bed-ridden" stage of PSP. Is he on a special pressure relieving mattress? If not, it sounds like he should be! If he is at home the District Nurses should be coming in to dress the sore and they can provide a mattress. If your Father is in a nursing home, they should provide the mattress.

Good luck!

regards

Kathy

no, he don't have a pressure relieving mattress. we are in the Philippines and the government dont give support for for patients with psp. That's why I am looking for a foundation who can help my father. looking for some financial help

Sorry to hear you don't get any help :-( You need to try and make sure your Dad is turned every couple of hours so he is not lying in the same position all the time.

Good luck getting some financial help!

A few thoughts:

My wife CBD and now 71 yrs, started bedsores on her back and most serious on "SACRUM". Trying several soft matresses and have now ended up using a simple childrens toy Bathing ring. Not high pressure, rather soft. - We have now no bedsores on the critical part of the spine. Cheap and very effective.

Maybe try a blow up lilo to put on his bed. A camping one would be better I think if you cannot get finiancial help to get the pressure matress. And yes keep moving him as kathy said. We were advised not to use sudocream but I cannot recall what product my dad had but it has to be a good quality cream. Push for finacial help - those who shout the loudest get heard sometimes. Good luck.

Hi ...the cream I was given for Frank is called Conotrane which is an antiseptic soothing cream. Frank doesn't have any pressure sores but has very red & sometimes inflamed areas on his buttocks.

Take care & try to keep smiling Lover Hazel B xx
