Hi, this is a very practical question- can anyone please recommend a very sturdy toilet frame? We have an NRS toilet frame which has been good up until now, but it is now not offering enough stability and I wondered if there is another make/ type that can withstand quite a lot of movement? Thank you

Dear Woodstock80
My husband had the KMINA toilet frame for more than 2 years and it was very sturdy when installed correctly. We would have to uninstall it regularly for deep cleaning and to ensure it remained rock solid. Even so, we had one fall where my husband had managed to push against the frame at a strange angle and got up, falling sideways and knocking the whole frame loose.
The frame was very wide, which in our case was good, but won't suit everyone.

When we started using Sara Stedy for transfers, the feet of the toilet frame could get in the way. The social care team provided drop-down support rails for the toilet in the wet room and these were also very steady, so possibly a better option.
Neither solution included a seat - we had a normal (high) toilet with a bidet seat.
I hope that might be of some use. 🌻
Hello there
Can I refer you to the previous reply that by using a Sara Steady and wheeled commode mobility and safety in a bathroom/wet room can be hugely improved. The risks of major falls is reduced or even removed.
If you can speak to you OT or physio they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
Anne
if the walls are strong enough then drop down rails are useful. Unfortunately, most internal walls aren’t.
I would suggest you contact Social Services and ask for an assessment.
