Has anyone on here had any experience with toilet booster seats that attach to the toilet, maybe with handles? Steve is beginning to have problems standing to go to the bathroom, not hitting the mark and making a huge mess. (He's got a safety bar to hold on to) I thought it might be easier for him if he could sit, plus have handles to help him up and down. I found some booster/risers on amazon but thought I'd ask on here before I ordered. Also any ideas for keeping the floor clean? I thought about disposable pads but don't want to add a trip hazard.

Toilet Booster
Dad had one for a while. It had handles on the sides and hooked semi-tight under the rim of the toilet. It was helpful since he didn't have to go down so far to sit, think it added 4 inches of height. This one required it be removed and cleaned on a regular basis since it was not a tight seal and urine sometimes seeped under it. In full disclosure there was also a grab bar attached to the wall to help him get up and down.

Hi Colin used one, it had a big plastic thing that went into the toilet and had handles on a stand. I think you can get them so they are separate, the toilet seat and the stand. If your in touch with adult social care or the hospice they should be able to supply this for you.

Hello there
We have a raised seat which sits over the loo which has handles which Chris finds very useful as he's 6ft tall.
Speak to your OT if you're in the UK and they should install one for you. We also have 4 grab rails strategically placed in the loo to help also.
Hope this helps.

Hi , it is a stinky problem that I have not solved yet. I just keep a mop on the ready nearby.

Hi
As mentioned speak to OT or Adult Social Care if you are in the UK.
We had a high rise seat with bars for my brother and OT put more bars up around his bungalow to help him to and from the toilet in the early stages.
They were a great help at the time.
Take care.

I am a community Matron. Please ask your gp to refer Steve to local district nurses. They will be able to arrange this far quicker than an OT as you will have to go on a waiting list for OT. Still ask for OT assessment as well as they can come and do an overall assessment for equipment.
