tips for voice problem

Hi Grandmadippy,
I had the same problem and was sent to a voicebox specialist who looked down my throat and said my vocal cords had massively shrunk and dwindled. He sent me for voice therapy, which I did via video links with the therapist, who had me doing similar exercises. It did help a bit, but what really helped was reducing my thyroid medication after I developed severe atrial fibrillation. I realised after a few months that my voice - and my hair were massively improving. I have since slightly increased my thyroid dose and I think the voice and hair are slightly declining again, but not severely. It is a delicate balancing act - but do look out for your heart. Watch that pulse. You could have a thyroid problem that is affecting your vocal cords as well.

Good to hear that the decibel reading has improved. It's frustrating not only for the person struggling to speak but to those trying to understand what is being said, so any chance to assist one's speech is wonderful.
My husband attended voice therapy via Zoom last year and it definitely made his voice clearer. However, sadly he is so demotivated to do any form of therapy, that he stopped practising and his voice has regressed.
Good luck as you continue with your voice therapy.
Xx
Grandmadippy,
Our SALT kept Ruth's voice going for a good time using the LSVT vocal technique - the same sort of thing as you are doing. It is a simple correlation - the louder you can make your voice, the clearer the articulation is.
