Does anybody else suffer from keyboard mistakes?

I have been diagnosed with PSP. I would be interested whether anyone else suffers from a symptom I have, namely despite typing ever so slowly, I make many mistakes (15 or so just in compiling this simple post). It didn't used to be like this, and I used to be able to type measurably quicker with no mistakes.

I'm afraid this is very much due to PSP. Your brain's messages to your fingers just don't work well enough or fast enough to get the right finger to the right place at the right time. You could try different types of keyboards to see if that helps.

I was going to suggest that you activate the speech recognition typing facility on your computer but thought I'd read your bio and found that you already are having problems with your speech. So sorry. Unfortunately PSP brings with it so many frustrating difficulties to bear. I wish you strength on your journey. 🫂

Hi MulkerRice,

I have PSP and find it very to type on the computer. You may get a better keyboard but it would take time looking. I had go do something the other day and it took me the whole day. Very frustrating. I think it’s just part of PSP. Good luck.

My husband has psp and finds it near impossible to type on a keyboard, and even harder on a touch screen. The mobile phone is too small and we had to get a tablet to give a bigger space to type, but this is now beyond use.

Part of the problem is the loss of dexterity however I think there is also a problem with timing; the brain is spelling out the words too fast, the information seems to come through in the wrong order, and there isn’t time to watch what appears on the screen before typing the next letter - we get a lot of repeated letters.

I recall an early post/reply regarding “loss of speech” which mentions a communication aid called Grid Pad (by thinksmartpad) - these have solutions to make the input easier eg key guards- worth looking into.

I would also say - while you are able to type, however frustrating - take time to type out messages that you want to prepare for later.

With hope and hugs 🌻🫂

Hi there. I know how you feel. I can’t use a phone keyboard anymore; I have such tremors that the result of my attempts recently are more akin to Russian Cyrillic than English. And I used to be a Secretary/PA with a typing speed of over 80wpm with 100% accuracy!

Afternoon,

I,m in your club. Takes ages to type anything & evern then its got bits wrong.

Hand writing is ok some days & unreadable other days.

This PSP is so weid.

You will have to put that master piece of a novel on hold.

Warmest wishes & luck.

Thanks for the response, elsternwick. Like the quip about the novel!

My handwriting is so bad, that even I can't read what I've written.
